Blms could use a minor buff, but I agree with much of what OP is saying. All jobs should have distinct strenghts/weaknesses, it isn't like it is even remotely difficult to level other jobs for content that your current doesn't specialize in. They didn't buff melee when nobody would take them into garuda.
