Why is BLM getting a buff?

It's not random. The MP ticks are consistent with the 3 second server ticks. It feels "random" because you're using your Transpose/Blizz 3 at off times from the server ticks

Jeah I know how that mechanic works, but tell me, how do i get it "on times from the server ticks" ;-)

We've tried two placements, one being BG method and the other looking something like this http://i.imgur.com/5ICnhvo.jpg , which is what we're currently doing.

If i'm looking at the imgur link right, your party is staying in the circle and the previous mspaint you showed is based on that. We initially tried that method but we ended just putting any color to the rims of the big circle because it's easier to manage. I'm not sure if we're actually screwing ourselves over with this method but anyway, it seems to me that I cant emulate your methods. I'm staying way far behind from the boss because of the meteor method we're doing and I have to travel longer distances from outside the circle into the center and vice versa.

...BLM should not have good single target damage. Its already far outshining all jobs in AoE damage. Thats what BLM is for... AoE...

TBH, I don't think the job balance will be broken as labelling BLM only should be good in AoE is inappropriate
IMO BLM should be the most powerful range DPS, not limited to AoE.
While our DRG/SMN/BRD even the MNK say they can SR AoE very well, some even have said they out DPS BLM,
so I think the buff is the result of those user feedback..? ^^;

Anyway, maybe the buff is just a very little one like a joke, let's look forward to it ^^

Mainly because half the population of the game is BLM and they cry a lot.

They are also a little underpowered compared to SMN

I am certain triple even quad flares were never intended but hey someone figured out how to squeeze out every last ounce of dps a Black Mage could muster from the skill.

4x Flare is still doable. All their "fix" did was to make BLM ST rotation more awkward, and a slight nerf to DPS from that awkwardness.

I'm gonna stop you again for a second. I actually checked, and you haven't downed Turn 7. Which means you haven't downed Turn 8 or Turn 9. Your experience in Second Coil is limited to all of Turn 6 and maybe some of Turn 7 (I'm doubtful you've gotten very far). I hate to break it to you, but until you've seen and experienced what people are upset about with Black Mage in Second Coil (because this is, after all, the series of turns that people wanted the buff for); until you've actually done the content that people are griping about, your opinion is kinda invalidated. Sorry.

Honestly, the only way is to count for yourself/ set up a timer to start when you see a DoT tick or your MP goes up, or when somebody makes a counter add on when the API is released (so it reads the exact serverside ticks right down to the millisecond)

I personnaly think that blm dmg is fine as it is, however the hardest fights on this game dont use any of the blm power. Give blm 5-6 target like in turn 4 and we'll see who's on top of dps chart.

I hate when game designer balance a job instead of balancing the way we are fighting boss. All that it means is that we'll get more evade aoe/mechanism based fight instead of more variety.

I wish we had more wave of mobs to kill kind of fight rather than a dungeon where you enter and where the first part can be done with your controller/keyboard/mouse fit somewhere it shouldnt be and a boss at the end.
