Odin Spawn Timer

I have never, ever had to do something so irrationally, infuratingly stupid in any MMO as I have waiting for this absolutely stupid world-spawn raid boss to show up. I've played MMOs for almost 20 years, including games with world-spawn raid bosses, but each and every one of them had a RELIABLE timer for its respawn so that if you missed it for whatever reason, you knew exactly (give or take maybe 30-90 minutes) when it would spawn again.

This completely inane 24-72 hours BS is absolutely ridiculous. We can't sit on the game 24 hours per day just to guarantee we will get this spawn. Many of us have jobs, families, and other responsibilities, so there's no way for us to spend hours and hours on the game just in the CHANCE we'll be around when this boss spawns.

I just found out that I missed the spawn by around 1 hour while I did chores around the house and ate dinner. I've been waiting for this boss for over a month, usually to discover I missed it by minutes or hours at most. This is totally unacceptable for rewards that amount to consolation prizes. I could totally understand if the gear was iLvl 90+ or otherwise extremely special... but it's not. It's practically useless. Hell, you can't even glamour the armor!

One of two things needs to be done to fix it:

1. A set respawn timer. If you don't want it to be exactly the same each time (to allow for a procession of the respawn, for instance), have it be something like xx hours +/- up to yy minutes, or something. That way people would know about when to log on and would only have to wait yy * 2 minutes at most.
2. A way to see the estimated time of the next respawn. Again, this could be approximate, with a small amount of variability around the respawn (E.G.: 'Odin will spawn again on 5/24 at approximately 10:13pm' with the 'approximately' being a buffer of +/- some amount of minutes).

Fix this, and fix Behemoth while you're at it, too. Seriously.

Can you QQ anymore? I work 60 hours a week I travel a lot for work and you cant play this game with Hotel Wifi so this game is weekend orny. Even on the weekends my Spouse and my Friends come first you know that silly thing where you interact with people in RL and spots also come before the game... Yet I have seen people shout for Odin/Behemoth plenty of times. I would really love to see how you can say you need to play 24/7. Its more like you just want to QQ because you would rather spend your time myth farming when they spawn and don't leave your "leet group" to do other stuff.... Or you don't ever check your LS/FC chats when in said instances because you know your so close to killing Ifrit HM... please quit QQing

lol? What? Nice assumptions there. I'm on a LS for Odin/Behemoth. In all the time I've been in that LS and have been high enough level to actually get a Gold medal, Behemoth spawned once and *I* was the person who called it out on the LS. All of the rest of the time I've been in the game, they've not spawned at all.

Anyway, the latter half of your post is hilarious, full of ignorant assumptions about a person you don't know. I haven't even attempted Ifrit HM yet. I have 1 piece of Myth gear. I don't have time to 'myth farm' with a 'leet group;' my lack of time for the game is part of what has made me upset about this absurd timer. Look at my Lodestone before you make assumptions that make you look like an idiot.

I just thought of an obvious 3rd option though:

3. Make the FATE rewards tradeable. If you want the furniture to still be rare, have it be a different drop from the FATE that is untradeable.

I didn't play FFXI. I wouldn't have been OK with it then either. Though I was younger then and had about 100% fewer responsibilities, so I probably wouldn't have cared as much.

Why even bother with Odin? His drops are worthless. If you were on the Odin server I would be more than happy to assist, I run a very successful LS there. I have absolutely everything and too many mantles left over. The stuff is complete crap with exception to the sword. You're even admitting the worthlessness in your post and yet you complain? It's just odd. Either way, forget the stuff and move on unless you want to cling on to some hope that something decent is released later on. Personally, I would love a Sleipnir mount (not the shit barding). It's vanity and bragging rights crap and even then the braggings rights aren't worth it. I obsessed over Odin for some time too and then found myself quite disappointed with the gear.

Again, just move on. Not worth it.

Again, this is precisely why I think the spawn timer is beyond ridiculous. Why are they making worthless rewards so rare?

Personally, I would love a Sleipnir mount (not the shit barding).

See, now that would be something that, to me, would make the difficulty of catching the spawn make more sense. Though, just making the gear higher than iLvl 50 (or somehow upgradeable) would be a step in the right direction.

What he said though, some of the stuff like the sword and barding is nice for having, but you can't do anything with the body armor and by this point it isn't as relevant. Unless you really want it to make a set for showing off in low level roulettes and such then there isn't much point to it.

That's the goldsmith gear, the pics are slow to refresh since I only wear it for like 5 minutes.

Anyway, even the barding is terrible. The barding was the first thing I bought and THAT is when the disappointment kicked in. I should have went with the sword. It is the only good looking thing to come from Odin right now. If Odin is up, I still go for the fight. I have more mantles than I need.

im not sure how either of them need "fixing". both have ways to know they are there. behemoth has his blizzard and odin has his mist. other than that, you have the massive amount of pf groups and shouts that will start filling the chat log. not paying attention to those things seems like a personal problem that could be fixed a lot faster than doing anything to these bosses. if you have been waiting a month for one thing that seems kinda insane seeing as how they have both been spawning like crazy. back when they first started, it seemed like they were on a weekly/biweekly timer, and that timer wasnt for sure. they could spawn early or late.
