I think making them tradeable would destroy what little worth it has. Even though the body can't be glamoured, if I ever do wear it, I like to know that I earned it. Look out for a LS on your server or even make one! Here's a link to a forum post for the LS I made. Sure there are no responses but having that thread there and posting it on reddit caused it to take off very quickly. My LS consisted mainly of FC members first just to get a good foundation. Check that post I made and you can see the spreadsheet also, do something like that and you could hopefully get a shit load of dedicated people. More people means more eyes to watch. And because the LS is for Odin and Behemoth, it's common courtesy for people to invite others from the LS as we share a common interest.

I'm actually in a LS that watches for the spawns, but that doesn't help me if one of them spawns while I'm offline. The problem isn't related to it spawning when I'm on the game, it's the fact that the spawns are so incredibly unpredictable that I haven't been able to be on at the same time as the spawn. I don't even really care if the spawn isn't on a set timer, so long as once the spawn time is set after one of them is killed, there's a way to know approximately when it will spawn again, give or take 1.5-2 hours or so.

They could even gate this information easily, by making some sort of quest you had to do that didn't even open up until x amount of hours after the last time it spawned and died. Complete the quest, you somehow "predict" the next time their aetheric energies will converge, giving you a date and maybe like a 2-4 hour time window when the spawn will occur.

if you are in a odin/behe ls then you are doing all u can do. just try to take solace in the fact that these 2 fates are just for fun, an your game isnt going to break if you dont get all of your mantles/horns this week, there is always next time

They could just do it how GW2 does it:

    - Have world bosses spawn once approximately every 2 or 3 hours, so that people have a decent chance to encounter them regardless of when they can play. Make it predictable enough so that timers such as these can be made for each server.

    - Players can participate as many times as they want, but can only receive the rewards (i.e., Odin's Mantles, Behemoth Horns, etc.) once per day to prevent them from being too common. Players will then be more motivated to try and get gold so that they earn more horns/mantles for that day.

    Other things they could do:

    - Bronze rating should be 1 item; silver could be 3; gold can remain 5. It's frustrating to show up late to these events and end up not getting anything even though you put in a decent amount of DPS, healing, etc. This way, in conjunction with the "one reward per day," would reward doing a good job, while also rewarding general participation.

    - Release a multi-part version of the Herklaedi armor (body, arms, legs, and feet pieces) for glamour purposes, or other new items so that players still have a motivation to participate in these events.

    - Make the items also tradeable for things such as tomestones or GC seals, in case you have all the rewards already or simply aren't interested in them.

    - Introduce new world bosses, and/or have other "lesser" world bosses (Lazy Lawrence, Gorgimera, Cancer, etc.) drop token items instead of minions. Have new rewards you can get from trading in items dropped from their respective bosses (minions could be one of these).

    - If you REALLY want to encourage participation, have certain new gear drop from these bosses (such as ilvl110 Odin armor), but have the drop rate extremely low, sorta like how Atmas are now. Trade-in rewards could also be included so that you don't have to spend your tokens if you're lucky.

Still have only seen Odin twice and never Behemoth as a casual player who enjoys vanity. So to me putting vanity items on such a thing is just incredibly crazy.

Only real solution is to make everyone participating get the items, and allow them to be sold. That way people will participate to make money, and those who miss it can buy items to get their vanity stuff.

The alternative with popping them every 3 hours is good in theory, but people would get what they wanted and stop doing it and then you have to beat Odin and Behemoth with groups the size of 3-12. Which means nerfing the fates so they can be done solo.

I think the point of Odin and Behemoth *are* that the rewards are useless vanity items.

It is said in this thread that for all the trouble it is to track down Odin and Behemoth that the rewards should be worthwhile. I disagree. Do you realize how upsetting it would be if you "missed him by a hour" and now lost a chance at some meaningful item?

It's the whole basis of this game, that anything requiring luck or having some difficultly should at best give you something meaningless. People get their cranky pants on with even a hint of some low-droprate uber items of old (like ffxi). Or if there was some boss that was super difficult that dropped a good item? That bosses drop table will eventually get moved to a fuzzy sheep right outside the starting area.

It's what the masses want. I've learned to live with it... lol

Gold actually gives you 5 if you finish the FATE, 1 if the FATE is failed. Personally, I think it's fine the way it is.

Whoops, my bad lol, I'll fix that. I was more concerned with being able to get at least 1 from actually doing the FATE. I remember before they patched it, it was difficult to even get silver, so a lot of people ended up getting nothing despite actively participating in it.

What you could do is join an Odin/behemoth LS (if they are still around) and ask someone to send you a /tell when he pops, crank your volume right up, do what you need to, and listen for the chime.

It isn't meant to be reliable though. People aren't meant to be going "It's 17:42 on a Tuesday, Odin is up!" He's just kind of a random thing. I've missed spawns by minutes in the past, but that's just the way it goes. It's not as if he has gamebreaking drops, it's just for fun.
