I was just wondering if someone would tell be what the reason behind that request I was given, when running Amdapor Keep one time. I thought it had something to do with hindering his positioning of the last boss, but that doesn't sound right to me.

It was probably to let him build an agro lead before u start to hit
Yup. Since last boss of AK has to move form the center to that side area, I think their idea was to get the boss into position, then build aggro (the "slow style tanking") versus fire many things and move while they're hitting. Allows them some breathing room before the DPS "FIRE ZE MISSILES!!" Just a different style I guess. Kinda like how I always get nervous opening Titan since I don't really have a lot of aggro before everyone lets it fly. Plus, I've had an aggro fight on the opening of Titan. Took a year off my life![]()

Okey dokey. Thanks for the answers. ^_^
Since that request, I've been giving a few seconds to the tank before attacking, like I've been doing on Titan HM for the past 2 days, just because I wasn't sure if I had been missing something.
It's always important to give a tank a few seconds in any mmo. It becomes crucial to do so if you outgear the tank.
Yah it's much appreciated especially on encounters like Anantaboga since the monster needs to be moved a distance and all we can do without stopping is fire Tomahawk/Shield Lob which can't compete with sustained DPS. Outgearing the tank is also a good reason. I've had personal experience pulling Titan off a tank on DRG lol If you get a fresh tank in a Titan HM and you're a DPS rocking close to if not over i90 you'll need to lay off a bit (no buff CDs) sometimes for the entire first phase.
What others have said about the tank building aggro.
In addition, since you mention AK in particular and you are a pugilist, you really don't want to be triggering the tail dive before Anantaboga is in position. An early tail dive risks hitting everyone else.
I haven't leveled monk yet but do you have something like Quelling Strikes or Shroud Of Saints? Something that reduces how much aggro you generate? It's a good idea to pop that at the beginning of the fight.
You will trigger tail swipe if you move within 10 feet of his hitbox while he's turning it, potentially covering the room in a good bash and a DoT when simply waiting for 5 seconds would have allowed the tank to open up the side while aiming the head into the middle of the room, where melee are free to dps adds.
I don't have anything like that. I usually stay a the side of Anantaboga anyways, only going behind if I know it won't hit anyone, and getting more aggro than the tank has never been a problem for me. It was the first time through with that group and before starting the fight when the suggestion came up.What others have said about the tank building aggro.

The problem with Anantaboga is he is generally tanked against the wall and kept facing in that direction so tail swipe doesn't cover the statues since getting him to the wall is quite a long pull its very easy for any ranged dps to pull enmity off the tank. Furthermore once he is turned one way he becomes very difficult to move so that he is facing the correct way again. Worst possible thing that can happen is if he is turned at an angle that while you are standing behind statues to avoid Imminent Catastrophe he tail swipes you all.
