I thought it was Kraken at first too, but at the same time, I'd rather see Kraken alongside Lich, Marilith, and Tiamat rather than as a standalone boss. He's FFI's Elemental Archfiend of Water, for crying out loud! That'd be like having the final boss of a dungeon be Cagnazzo, but with Scarmiglione, Barbariccia, and Rubicante nowhere to be found.

I'd have no problem with it. The main story is, for the most part, its own thing. Most other things (coughCrystalTowercough) are nostalgia bait. Hullbreaker Isle could just be XIVs imagining of Sunken Shrine or Cave of Tides. When Scarmiglione comes along, maybe the dungeon will vaguely mirror Mount Ordeals. Floating City of Nym could act as a Flying Fortress to introduce Tiamat, there is even a volcano Marilith could inhabit. All they need to do is have them all come back again later as mini-bosses for another dungeon. No reason it couldn't even be a major story related dungeon, defeating Lich, Kraken, etc in their dungeons could be no different to the 2.0 story dungeons we did to obtain Crystals prior to CM/Prae.

It's Ultros. He's easily the most popular "kraken" of the FF series, they probably used that word to try and be vague because if they said octopus it would've been way too obvious.

For sure, it's Ultros and it must speak and be funny, otherwise it would be disappointing

I sure hope it's part of Hildibrand questline though. It would fit the most.
