It's been mentioned that this is now a little more difficult. Even if Rein was to put a disclaimer saying "HEY I MIGHT GET STUFF WRONG", anything that he writes wouldn't just be grabbed up as an official translation, but now people would go "and a square enix official translator said it so it has to be true"... if he was to make a mistake, well, the community'd be all over it immediately, and not even so much in a 'ya screwed up' way, but in a 'no square said it'd happen like this so that's what's gonna happen' and then cause angry whining when it didn't.
People already hyper-analyzed everything he translated, as rough and unformatted as it was, just like anything that comes 'direct from the producers', official or no. One wrong term due to mishearing something on his part or simply choosing the wrong words, and bam - consider the way that someone freaked out about WoW-style flying mounts because Yoshi mentioned the expansion may have a sky/aerial exploratory theme to it.
