PS4 Keyboard Lag/Dropped Keystrokes

Every time I start to enter text into the in-game chat box, there's a small period of lag at the beginning where key inputs usually get dropped. For example, almost every time I try to say something, the first few keystrokes come out as "/1[message]" instead of "/l1 [messsage]" unless I type it extremely slowly and deliberately. Once the edit box is open and you're continually typing, though, it seems to be fine. Even with the DualShock 4 turned off entirely, this still happens.

I've also seen a separate issue where opening the system menu via the "ESC" key gets delayed for several seconds (but other keys, such as movement via WASD, still works fine in the interim). This happens intermittently and largely unpredictably.

I have the exactly same issue, sometimes the first letter does not appear.

I thought it was just an issue with my keyboard but this is apparently a wide bug.

Yeah - this is well know / spread issue with PS4 version - independent on the type of the keyboard. Pretty annoying when you miss initial "/" in commands or type /ow instead of /bow and so on. Question is if that's a problem of the game itself or keyboard strokes parsing from PS4 system though.

I have same issue either letters get missed or stick or at time it don't work at all ie "thank you for party" will come out

I posted about this too, they just closed the post though.

What I've noticed is, it seems to break when you type /
If you set your chat mode, escape out, then start typing, it seems to work.

IE to type in Linkshell 4, type /l4 <enter>
Then press enter and start typing, then enter again. It seems to work.

It's NOT A SOLUTION but a WORKAROUND. We need a SOLUTION.

It's not an issue with keyboard input, just typing input. The keyboards have no delay or lag when gaming.

I have the same problem (first letter after / is often missed). Also, a question for all PS4 Keyboard/Mouse users:

Do you have a problem with the dialogue bubble moving downwards every time you talk to NPC's? Each NPC I talk to, the bubble goes lower and lower until eventually half of the bubble is cut off on the bottom of the screen. I have to manually drag the bubble back up after every few NPCs.

I put in a bug report about it a while back, and they moved my report to "Duplicate Bugs" (even though I've never seen another bug report about it):

Up till now, this has never been addressed. I've tried three different keyboards (two Microsoft, one Logitech). Same problem each time.
