I don't think you are acting as a elitist, you were merely trying to help this player and suggest ideas that will better him. The FC leader did not need to act hostile towards you for offering information especially since it seems like you offered your advice politely. As a new player I love when people give me suggestions instead of just flipping out over a small mistake.
