Questions about the actual Forum, need answers!

    Hello all,
I've been playing FFXIV for a little over a month now, and I've enjoyed it immensely. That being said, I have some issues with the game/suggestions that I would like to post in one big, giant post in the suggestions forum. That being said, I don't know all of the rules on the forum and I had some questions overall, so I figured I would ask here.
    1. What is the character limit per post?
    2. Are there any rules about double/triple posting?
    3. What subject title would be good to attract attention? My knee-jerk idea was "BIG LIST OF SUGGESTIONS!", but I don't know if the caps would be off putting to the community.
    4. Should I keep the suggestions simple, or should I go in depth as to why/what I think? Some communities enjoy in-depth, while others won't read it merely because of the length. Should I strike a happy medium with a TL;DR after the end of every point?
    Thanks in advance!

    1. 1000, but you can edit the post in order to bypass that limit.
    2. There aren't, but it's looked down on by the community since you can bypass posting limits by editting.
    3. Anything that isnt all caps or something in brackets (such as [DEV REPLY]) is fine, the things mentioned gets made fun of anytime its seen (and falls apart a little sooner than normal topics, making the topic get locked)
    4. However much you want, maybe split it up over a few post throughout the topic. Ive seen some do one, some do the other, and the replies to each are about the same.

Oh, Mods have also said previously that if you put things in brackets to try and get a reply from staff, that they don't have a higher chance of looking at it. There have also been cases (at least 1 I can remember), where someone actually replied to it, and edited out the bracketed section so that people wouldn't think that's the reason it got a reply.

The number one suggestion I have as a new poster, especially one with a slew of suggestions is use the search feature at the top of the page. You may be able to add to an existing discussion on a topic of importance to you. This helps reduce the chatter of several "look at my ideas!" threads and presents a more cohesive message to the developers as to what the community feels strongly about and the more well reasoned points in that thread the more likely it will be implemented.

If you have your own ideas that have not yet been presented just please ensure you stay away from the CAPS LOCK and employ some semblance of proper spelling and grammar and you'll go far. Also it's a good idea to try and put yourself into the shoes of the developer, some ideas sound great on paper but in practice cause imbalance or a number of issues when implemented to millions of players. They have to find a balance to try and make as many people happy as possible, at the end of the day they are a business and cannot run off one subscriber just to make another a bit happier

This thread by the Community team details the posting restrictions and rules in detail, so hopefully this should help.

Well, I ended up not reading any more than the first post here (whoops) and went ahead and posted my gigantic list.

    1. Answered, and let me assure you, we told them it was idiotic during beta. Don't expect it to change.

    2. To elaborate upon what others have said, it's seldom a good idea to double/triple post. Edit can get around the character limit here and if you need to add something to your post and it's the newest one in a thread, just edit it.

    3. I prefer the ones that actually don't try to attract attention and instead accurately describe what the thread/OP is about. Think about it this way, ever get tired of seeing news headlines that have nothing to do with the article they're about? Also, all caps topic titles, bad idea.

    4. I suggest the middle ground. Do a TL;DR version of your suggestions and then follow it up with your reasons. Do utilize spacing to try and keep it from being a wall of text though.

Yeah, I ended up Quintople posting. It's okay, because more people viewed this thread than that one. Spent like 5 hours typing it all out, but w/e. Hahah

Make sure not to bump threads too frequently either, they don't like that. If you come back and post in an older thread that's ok. Sometimes they'll let the thread go, sometimes they'll lock it for being too old.
