In Game Chat (Why is there no option for this yet! It is kind of archaic not to have)

I love playing this game on my PS4. My first mmorpg experience was FFXI on the PS2, which I promptly upgraded to 360 when it became available. I loved that I could party chat with fellow 360 players. 10 years later I feel that many standards have been set for MMORPGS and one of them is that players must have a party chat option to run end game dungeons. When I say must this is obviously not 100% true but the ability to communicate is key to running dungeons smoothly and for accurately and quickly communicating strategies to new players etc. Why then is such a simple function not implemented in the game. If players could invite each-other to in game chat it would make end game much easier and enjoyable for all. Of course, there will be trolls but o-well but that is why a mute option could be used.

The main reason I brought this up is because I want to petition for an in game chat option to be added in a future patch.

Hrm 130 views and no replies.. I am pretty shocked. I cannot be the only one who wants to be able to chat in end game dungeons without having to download a 3rd party program. Well if you disagree then say something I guess. I don't really see any reason to not put the option in though. Hell we pay a monthly fee for a reason right?

All the devs have said on the matter is that they don't want people to HAVE to use it, which is silly since the only time it would be compulsory from the community is when it's really needed (eg. BCoB or any other dungeon/ raid within the first week or two after it's launched). It's very difficult, or at least cumbersome to type all of the many instructions required to properly get people through Titan EX, Twintania, etc. and this would be seriously alleviated with in game voice chat. Not only that, people could stop relying so heavily on youtube if quick and easy communication was implemented in game. I feel like the developers are just saying they don't want players to feel like they have to have a headset (such items are cheap for PC and nearly all console gamers have them if they play online at all) so that they don't have to pay for the extra overhead of providing the service.

Heck, i dont want to use this either. We've been happily typing through things for ages now.

Why would you force me to listen to 12 year old boys who sound like little girls, screaming at you to take a certain position? Or all the diffirent accents, diffirent mic volumes and diffirent languages being used?

Last thing i want to do after comming home from a long day of work is to shout through a microphone in a foreign language so people can hear me. I want to sit down, play and relax. And maybe type a thing or two.

If you need to do something hard that doesnt allow for a lot of typing, explain the fight before hand. Or make warning Macro's. Or just use shorthand or type words. I can type lots of things in between ability cooldowns, and i'm tanking even. Just think of what more you can do being a lazy DPS class.

Most people want an ingame chat.

Everyone, and I do mean everyone, that I have spoken with (on Excalibur and Behemoth) agrees that an in-game chat option should be placed. There are ps3 and ps4 people being shunned from end game content because they do not have voice chat (TS3, Vent, Mumble).

Other MMOs offer this ability as an option. To keep up to date with what gamers want then the devs of ffxiv should offer in game voice chat as well. We pay monthly fees to play this game and we expect to play a game with options that should be standard within all MMOs that have raiding dungeons.

If you do not want to use the voice chat, that is your choice. If you are a racist that can not stand other languages and accents, well... that's your problem.

I recommend that the voice chat option be available only in 8+ man instances, where it is truly needed.

You've never talked to me then, I'm on Excalibur and quite frankly I think the idea of a forced in game chat system is not just a bad idea, but one that is rife with potential issues that i have no desire to deal with. The connection is spotty at best already, forcing new code for something that requires additional connectivity with the servers that already have such lag issues is just not something I'm willing to deal with. The game is optimized to allow people on lower end connections to play in the first place, I don't think it's fair to take that away because of the concept of including something that can easily be added by many third party options.

If you try to fail and succeed, which have you done?

I can type/write english but i didnt had a teacher to get used to listen or speak it by voice.... forced use of voice chat would be a valid reason for me to quit the game, i doubt i be the only one on this situation. This do add up to the discrimination by language somehow to some few of us.
