    directing chocobo to attack 1st

    is there a way to so this? macro or something

    like I play healer (WHM) and have my chocobo as full defence (tank) and it would be good to have him attack 1st and hold threat instead of you attacking and then him taunting

    is there gonna be a pet bar with commands like with SCH pets...would be good too

    I'm sad to say that not in it's current form can we make it first strike. I have same problem with my bird being healer and lack of a movement bar allows my bird to stand right in aoe and no you cannot move a healer a bird around. At least the attacker bird will stand wherever you started your attack from and dps there. This allows you to move around the mobs flank and get the aoe directed away from bird. I'm in agreement that we need some kind of position controls on the birds. I'm not asking for attack moves as I'm fine with the current autoattack use of skills but a way to place the bird would be awesome.

    It would be nice to give commands to the chocobo. Has anyone experimented at all with trying to issue text commands to make the choco use skills? I know they had released that huge list of all the icons/micons, and there were lots of icons of chocobo abilities, and the appropriate name.

    Choco Regen.

    Also wondering if anyone set the Micons to their action bar(assuming that can be done) and if it shows any kind of cooldown after a choco uses the skill.

    Never understood why they didn't give chocobos no commands at all even just the basic one's would do at this point.

    I find it weird that we can't if you look at every chocobo skill they all say "order chocobo to do" whatever the skill is then it describes what the skill does.

    My healer Chocobo stays put once it starts attacking in "Free Mode". If I need to re-position it, I have to move to where I want it, hit "Follow Mode", then hit "Free Mode" again to plant it there. The same has to be done to switch it's target. I just have to attack the new target before I switch my Chocobo back to "Free Mode".

    Chocobos are just one of many great ideas in FFXIV that was poorly implemented and then ignored. I'm really hoping to see some improvements on some of the original broken content soon. SE has apparently been too focused on adding additional (broken) content instead though.

    I get the feeling that chocobo commands are not in the game because they are worried that they will become too powerful.

    If we want a micro manageable pet then play summoner.

    I could be going off the deep end here but, I get the impression that chocobo's have a certain something that puts them ahead of egi's.

    Like they are more "regal" or something? Arcanists have *dominion* over their summons and can control everything about them. It's a pact they make with the primal, I understand that but basically you are in control of them.

    Chocobo's as expressed in lore and such, have a high standing (even though in one main story quest, it's mentioned that they smell of poop... lol). They are a very respected creature in Final Fantasy history, so I don't find it surprising that they are more of your buddy than your minion. You tell them what to do, sure, but I feel like, from a lore standpoint, they choose to follow you. Therefore, you can't micromanage them. Maybe that will change.
