I keep the tank stone skinned as much as possible between every pull. It gives me a free 3-4 seconds at the start of each fight. Guess what I do on those? Holy.
Which then applies a stun for another 2 seconds. Then I cast regen, and until GCD is ready again their stun wear out, I holy again, and get us another 1 second, only THEN, the tank will start getting dmg, while I already took off a few of the mobs HP.
So to all tanks that claim SS is useless, think again.
White mage stoneskin blocks 18% of the player's max HP. Which is usually about equal to a cure 2, and costs the same amount of MP as cure 2. That's basically a free cure 2 to every member of your party that you will not have to spend MP on during battle. Do you not see how invaluable that is? Say your WAR tank has 10k HP for some oversimplified math, that's 1800 HP worth of damage that they are not going to take. During the time that they are not taking that 1800 damage, you can put up cleric stance and holy away 'til your little heart's content. It's not going to break super quick from a trash mob, it's going to block a specific amount of damage that you will then not have to heal on that trash pull and can be doing something else that is beneficial to the party, like dealing damage to make the trash pull that much faster, and hitting all the mobs with holy stun to further keep them from doing damage to the tank. I find my stoneskin highly useful as a white mage. Slightly less so as a scholar, as scholar stoneskin is only 10%, but that 10% is still 10%.When I play white mage, and a random group I'm in demands I stoneskin the group (often while I'm already in process of doing it), I just kind of think it's silly. Especially when the tank wants their stoneskin and won't pull the first trash mob until they get it. It' just going to break super quick from that single trash mob.... lol
After witnessing people who does not need Tanks (go aggro themselves) and don't need Healers (start battle without, or out range), I am not impressed there exists people that does not needs buffs![]()
Clearly too badass.
This just makes me think of the skit Proud Thug from Key and Peele :/
I think I can see the misunderstanding on that one.In the Lost City of Amdapor, second boss, I was asked to remove stoneskin from the tank (wtf I can't?), I had casted it before the fight and I didn't understand why the dps asked me that. I still don't. Any specific reason? I answered "I can't. He'd have to take it off himself." I didn't bother asking why, but now...
When stoneskin completely negates damage, it does also negate certain 'side effects', believe it or not. The one that comes to mind is Ifrit HM's "fire burst knocking everything away" - if you absorb the whole thing via Stoneskin, you won't be knocked back.
However, I can say with almost complete certainty that Stoneskin does not block the scale cloud (because it does no damage), and doesn't mess with the enmity mechanics specific to that fight. If I'm wrong on that, it might be the one time you genuinely don't want to Stoneskin - but again, almost completely sure it doesn't.
Wow. I.... what?
Sorry, but that makes no sense. Why remove a beneficial buff for no reason?
Absolutely baffling...
