if they made the dungeons time-based, static parties at a scheduled time would largely be used, and because i cant base my schedule around a game i shouldnt be able to take part in the dungeons?

i want to be able to get on when its convenient for me, get a party (pick up or not, i dont care) and have fun. i dont want to have to have a static party that relies on me getting on at 7 pm on tuesdays, thursdays and saturdays.

No matter what the content addition is it won't last months for people who are already at endgame. Of course people will go through it fast when it's one of the only things they haven't done yet. What people seem to be forgetting is what it means to new players. Dungeons are a great content addition, timer or not. Each addition gives new players another thing to look forward to doing. Over time that list just keeps getting longer and longer and they can't clear it faster than the devs can put it out. We can clear it that fast because it's all we have to do.

5 minutes is pretty insignificant but I don't really care either way. In Aion we had half hour lock out timers for some dungeons and it made little difference too. They also had 18 hour lockouts for certain dungeons and it was just more annoying than anything. Timers do limit how people want to play by telling them they can't go back into the dungeon yet. The people who have all the time in the world will still finish the content faster than the people with more real life obligations.

children, children.. why fight, its not like this will be the only 2 dungeons we'll ever have, or the only optional content we'll have at "endgame"

To the guy that said he can do 280 runs a week w/e. Is that something to be proud of? lol

If Yoshida wanted to make the dungeons truly free for players to play exactly how they wanted they shouldn't have made instances. And if the entrance requirement is five minutes why are they instances anyways. Seems silly.

I think it's worth noting that this isn't end game content. End game content is what will last. Whether this was intended to be or not this will not last. They'll make something else like companies to fill players time.

Speaking as a hardcore player this 5 minute cool down makes me sad inside. Granted I'm pretty much out of things to do that I want to do. I was first on server to hit all 50's DoW/M. I finished all the side quests. I hate DoH and I've been casually playing DoL to kill the time. You'd think being able to enter the dungeons so often would make me happy to kill time with but it does not. Whats going to happen and I know it's been stated before is that we're going to enter the dungeons, rape them repeatedly like a drunk chick at a frat party and then be done with it. I can't use a dungeon for SP because there's nothing left to rank up. Unless the fight is really hard and fun at the end then once my team gets their drops I see no reason to go back inside. This means I'm just going to end up back in town AFK watching movies until 1.19 comes out. It just seems to me that they (SE/The dev team) is pandering TOO much to the casual player. You see, the hardcore player is spending too much time actually PLAYING and PROGRESSING to troll forums and spout out stupid ideas and opinions that then fill their (SE/The Devs) heads with these ideas that end up being horrible. 5 minute cool down?!?! Seriously?! C'mon SE! You're the people that created the most fun and challenging MMO I've ever played. With the creation of this game I had really high hopes which eventually came crashing to the ground once this game was released. Most of the people that are still playing this game are NOT casual players. The hardcore people have laid in wait reducing themselves to what should basically be called a casualcore player. The fatigue system complaints are a joke. Fatigue obviously didn't slow me down and I know I'm not the only one. I just happened to be first but there has been plenty to follow since. It's time to cater a little to the hardcore player Yoshi!!! You have a ton of other MMO's breathing down your necks about to come out swingin. This is not the time to take it easy. You need to give us content to distract or take time away from those other games because if you don't these other games will take it away from this in a heartbeat.

I think he'd rather cater to the OTHER 99/100. Not the 1 who decided to max everything before content even came

There is definitely more than 1% of the population with all 50's DoW/M. Don't forget to count the people that only wanted to rank up 1 or 2 jobs because that's the type of character they want to play. All of these people are sitting on their thumbs like me. I only wanted to be a mage class but because it was too easy to rank up so fast I finished the *2* classes they offered extremely fast. Then I was left with the option of quit the game or rank up other classes to kill time before they gave us something hard/time consuming. I chose to rank up rather than quit because I had faith that SE was having internal problems and that it would take time to correct with the changes they made with staff. Now the new staff is releasing their changes and other than the stamina gauge being removed and auto attack being added I haven't seen much to go into the positive changes category. Maybe this is what life was like in FFXI before they released CoP. I didn't play before then. All I'm really asking for is something hard to fight with a low drop rate and that takes up a lot of time. Give me HNMs to camp with 24 hour timers. Give me things like Dynamis/Salvage/Limbus/Etc. The way it stands now I can only hope for these things in some sort of expansion down the road. I just don't know if SE will be able to compete with things like TERA long enough to get to that point though.

DCUO is a prime example of how making everything too easy that everyone, even joe casual 1 hour a day, will finish things too quickly. The game died within months.

Whether you want to argue if this is endgame or not is semantics. This WILL be endgame for however long it takes to put something new out. When players finish things too quickly it means they stop playing your game. If you don't balance it to where the player keeps reaching for that carrot on a stick, your game will die. It's how MMO's have operated for over a decade, WoW included.

Reserving judgement until I see the dungeons themselves, but it's not looking good from an outside looking in perspective.
