WAR needing issue

So i was just in a cutters cry and the <conquistador elmo> item dropped which specifies it is for a: " GLA, MRD, LNC, PLD, WAR, DRG " however. our tank was a WAR and it wouldn't let him need the item, only greed it. unfortunately losing the loot to a bard who didnt even have a class high enough to wear said item, heck, not even the 3 classes at all if im not mistaken, so in theory our tank just lost his loot strictly because it wouldn't let him need roll.

ive had this happen multiple times to me also throughout when i was levelling my WAR to 50, never knew it was happening to others, anyone else getting this issue?

It's possible the WAR already had the gear and didn't realize it.

It's possible the item, despite being wearable by the tanks, was designed as a DRG armor, and thus only DRG can Need it.

It goes to LNC/DRG because it's a secondary piece for tanks, but a main piece for DPS.

that gear is for lancers and drgs they can need on it not tanks

I noticed this once when I was grinding CC. I was thinking it was a bug, but have since realized that Square Enix has put gear in dungeons that are similar to crafted gear on the market, there are overlapping classes for one piece of gear, but in the case of greens/pinks in dungeons, they had to choose which role could need it.

see thats weird because the specs showed it had mostly tank stats, obviously the standard but then parry and skill-speed??? still weird how they'd output this gear and not let both parts roll, the tank however didnt have this gear she had a lv35 piece from STOQ.

My theory is that Lancer will have a second job that specs into a tank. People note already that DRG can serve as an OT in various scenarios if absolutely necessary. Armor like this may be what they're preparing for that possibility.

The Elmo is all DRG stats: Str, Vit, Det, Acc. You should also not the Def/Mdef stats. Its Def is twice its Mdef. On a tank item, Def and Mdef are even, for Drg Mdef is half of whatever Def is.

LNC has an ability that boosts Parry...it's not strictly a tank stat. They don't let both roles Need on it because tanks have their own NEED gear. DRG/LNC has a set of gear they can only GREED on as well and that set is for MNK/PUG.
