Let's stop arguing vs. "summoning an image of the primal" meaning it must look either wholly elemental or partially primal-like...

Let's just focus on the fact the current "image-representing" Egi's look like poo.

If they're meant lore-wise to look like aspected crystal/elemental forms of the Primals' essences...

They could still look 1000x better than the currently do while retaining that essence.

Fact is Summoner in 4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11 did summon beautiful incarnations of magical beings. I haven't played 12 and 13, but they probably follow the same pattern.

Straying from this was a typical FF14 1.0 design mistake, which would have been caught, fixed, and redone with 2.0 had SE not been so slow with adding the job to 1.0.

I don't care that they look like elementals and float, that is fine. But the overall design make it hard to tell it is a Garuda, and I fear if ramuh or levi is added it will just look like a tornado with a staff or a spiral of water.

The design is just very different than the previous games. Which is why people are thrown off.

First the egi is always out in the field of battle. In previous FF games, summons were a lot more about resource management and timing. Egi's feel like a flat dps upgrade. Your main focus is applying Dots, not Summon management.

Sigh..I dont know, the 2 hour abilities are really what set the FF 11 apart. It was a cool design. This game is different and I guess that is fine. In the end I feel like Egi's too closely resemble the elemental summons from 11.

Well even the current design simply favors Garuda over the rest.

It's a dps upgrade because well it's just an extension. Yet just as Dragoons they don't have much visual appeal. Just Parser appeal.

I personally like the Egis, because Lore-wise, it makes me feel like im not this incredibly Overpowered magic-slinger who can summon a giant god. A fraction of a primal's power should -look- like a mere fraction. Its an avatar of it's former self, and therefore does not, and will not, look like the full powered Primal. And I like that.

Even the summoned Primals we fight aren't that much of a treat. Yet players aren't asking for that kind of scale. They aren't even asking for an FFX Summon either in which ekindle works like the overdrive limit.

Players just want Egi's to be visually appealing and above all to have a balanced kit. As it stands Carbuncle stands out more than Ifrit, Titan, and Garuda's egi visually.

If we really wanted to be creative, then instead of summoning these egi's to fight by our side, why can't we be the egi instead when it is summoned?

FFXIV is not any other FF
Summoning works differently both in gameplay and lore here.
Egis are fine. you do not want everyone with another thing even bigger than their character following them around everywhere.
