    inventory items

I was wondering about this during the time on the game - there are items that have been used when my character was at a lower level archanist or lower level from another class, as well as clothing too. Not forgetting that few of the items, I have two of (one brought off a merchant and the same, as a reward from a successful quest).

Is there something in the inventory that can be worth selling off in the game, to make room for newer items?

I may have to spend time doing more crafting, as I have a load of crafting items obtained from the creatures and beasts during the last 20 levels.

Not sure I undertand what you're getting at. You mean your old gear, can you sell it? Once you gain the ability to convert gear into materia, you can start with that. Selling old gear to the vendors doesn't net you much but if you conver it to materia (if you're able to, not all gear is capable) then you can sell the materia for a profit.

Unless you'll be leveling a new class that can use those soon, just get rid of it. I typically prefer to level all classes that share gear at the same time, to minimize how much gear I have to carry around.

The stuff you used as Arcanist is designed for casters, so would also be useful when leveling Conjurer or Thaumaturge, but not useful for DoW, DoH, or DoL classes. If either you've outleveled a piece of gear in all the classes it's designed for (all casters in this case), or if you aren't planning on leveling any of the other classes it would be useful for anytime soon, then go ahead and get rid of it to free up space.

Ways to get rid of old gear (in order of profitability):

    1) If you've reached 100% spiritbond, and the item description identifies it as being "Convertible" (which most are), then you can convert it into Materia and sell the Materia on the Marketboard (or use it yourself to add stats to the newer gear you're still using). The ability to convert items needs to be unlocked by a simple level 19 quest in Central Thanalan. (Using materia to add stats to other gear is unlocked by quest in the same area that requires a crafting class at level 19.)

Because Materia is more valuable than used gear, if you have a piece that isn't 100% spiritbound yet, but which would be convertible once it is, it's sometimes worth continuing to use it for a while (preferably in the easier open-world content) even after you've gotten something better, just so you can finish off the spiritbonding and then convert it to materia. (Personally, I only do this if it's already getting close to that 100% by the time I get a better replacement.)

    2) If you've never used a piece in combat or crafting, so it isn't bound to you (for example, a piece you got as a quest reward after you already had the same or better item), then in most cases you can sell the item on the Marketboard. (A few items are listed as "Untradeable" at the top of the item description, and those cannot be sold there.) Most items sell for more there than you can get from an NPC merchant.

    3) If it's a dungeon dropped item with a pink or green background, it can be traded to your Grand Company for a few GC seals. You have to rank up a few times (I think it's Sergeant Second Class) in the GC before this becomes available, though. It's referred to as "Expert Delivery".

    4) The last resort if none of the three previous possibilities are available, is to sell it to an NPC merchant. You can at least get a few gil that way, but not much.

I managed to follow the first two points quite well.

Coincidentally, my character was in Black Brush station, not far from the quests. I do have blacksmith and armourer, I may do more if I can. The rewards from the Level 19 quest took my character to Level 24, and so I could continue the main storyline quest outside Gridania. But before that, I could now set up a retainer, based on my characters likeness, and started selling some of my stuff (through Ul'dah), which the players may find useful for their characters.

So anyway, thankyou Niwashi for providing the info.
