As I was reading the Letter from the Producer XIV, there was a picture included that showed very well, one of the major turn-offs for me about this game. No I'm not talking about the Roegadyn but rather the two girls in the swimsuits. If you look very closely at them, you will see what I saw and notice that there is a bulge around their waistlines which is rather unattractive. I'm talking about those alembics floating at their hip-sides! I do realize that the photo was angled to hide them as well as possible but the ugly truth is that we can never be without a weapon or tool stuck to our characters in this game.
That being said, I propose a new class which I like to call the Adventurer. The Adventurer class is the class your character becomes when not wearing a weapon or tool. Although unable to battle, gather or craft, the Adventurer class will not be without its share of perks. Such as...
1) The ability to wear any and all equipment you own. (minus gender specific/race specific gear) The Adventurer class is the ultimate model for all your hard earned gear where you can mix and match anything you feel like wearing. The Adventurer class will be the best class to display your equipment or to take screenshots in. I too know the shame of that alembic bulge when trying to fully show my shiny golden subligar to a friend. When wearing very little clothing, your weapon or tool magically floats at your side without touching your body which doesn't look very cool.
2) By raising your Adventurer Rank, the world will become an entirely different place for you. You will also be able to earn some cool titles for your character through completion of specific missions/quest at certain Adventurer Ranks. A NPC might talk to or treat you differently after rising to a certain level of rank and social standing. I'll get into details for this later.
Questions you might have about the Adventurer Class:
Q) What kind of stats will the Adventure Class have?
A) Base stats for your race/type character because it is not a class meant for any specific purpose.
Q) Will there be any Jobs unlocked by the Adventure Class?
A) Not really, maybe Onion Knight to make it sound cooler.
Q) Can I level up the the Adventure class and if so how?
A) Yes you will be able to level up the Adventure class but not through fighting, crafting or gathering. This class will be the representation of your all accomplishments and hard earned achievements as a person living in Eorzea. It will indicate your level of prestige and notoriety or fame which you have accumulated through all your play time and experiences.
Since there is already an achievement system in place, those achievements would be rated based on their level of difficulty and be given a point value which will be added up to determine your Adventurer Rank. After raising your Adventure Rank to certain levels, new quests and missions will become available for you to undertake which can even change your character's social status amongst the people of Eorzea. Something like...
Everyone starts out as a Rank 1 Adventurer and is titled as "New Adventurer". But you are now a Rank 5 Adventurer after earning enough achievements and a new mission has opened up for you at the gates in Ul'dah. The guard will happen to recognize who you are by your recent increase in popularity and figures that you might just be the person to help out with the dilemma which the Prince has. When meeting Le Petit Prince, he will explain to you that one night he accidentally drank a mysterious potion from the Alchemist Guild and ended up in the Miner's Guild the next morning with no recollection of what had transpired the night before. It is up to you to find out what happened while keeping everything a secret!
Well after the long line of quests are finished, the Lalafell Prince will declare you to be an Honorary Noble of Ul'dah with full benefits. Vendors will give you a discount on their local goods as well as speaking to you in a more polite manner with /bow emotes even. Your title will then change and you can choose to set which of the many titles you have to show through the menu easily but "New Adventurer" will no longer be selectable.
For Limsa Lominsa, I can imagine a similar mission line where you could end up titled a General of the Buccaneers. Also depending on the actions taken and choices made throughout the quests, you can decide on being a hero to the people or a corrupt commander which has no problem with taking a bribe or two. NPCs around the town will act and talk accordingly afterwards and perhaps even fear talking to you due to the reputation you have created. Some might give you presents or bribes periodically just for being who you've become in the world.
Example:
That cross-dresser in the Culinary Guild likes to give you any food in too much abundance just for visiting after becoming such a honorable General. The food can change to be random food from a small pool of items which can be obtained once a week (real time).
The Captain at the Marauder's Guild is up to no good again and you happen to catch him in the act. But of course you are a reasonable person and willing to overlook the deed for the right price. (Notorious General outcome) With some proper persuasion and a few threats of locking them all up, you receive 10,000 gil every month (real time).
Gridania would have some way to make you into a Forest Guardian like title and will end up giving you access to a special area that only Forest Guardians can enter. In all my years of playing Final Fantasy XI, I still do now know what the area inside the Windurst Heaven's Tower looks like. Also the locals might cheer you on occasionally for all the deeds you've done for the forest.
Future Main Storyline Missions could also be unlocked base on your Adventure rank instead of the rank of simply your highest rank class/job so that the story will have a more progressive flow time-wise. Pretty much all the current missions could probably be done as a rank 10 anything or less with exception to the last one. It would progress faster if it was set to maybe one mission for every two Adventure Ranks if scaled well.
Sorry for the long post, I just think we should be allowed to un-equip all our gear. People can post any ideas they can think of about what else an Adventure Class should unlock I guess.
TL;DR: Please like this post if you are in favor of female characters in swimsuits not having a bulge around their waistlines. Thank You.
