You dont have to think of it as FFXI, you need to realise that it's a game without achievements, which makes the game pretty pointless. I'm using FFXi as a reference

Presumably level 50 is not the end of the road for level caps for this game. I think an easy solution is just in the future and perhaps even now is just to expand on the guildmark system. I have already bought every last ability from the guilds for pretty much all my jobs and already have a 50,000+ surplus for them. They just need to make spells and abilities added in the future based more on this system they already have in place. That will make it so you have to put effort to gain many of your important abilities and still allow noob players to be able to get their bearings for atleast the 1st 20-30 levels with an auto-learn system.

Well I agree for the most part I do not like the auto learning of all skills/spells, even the guild mark ones dont give me much sense of accomplishment I mean most likely everyone is doing leves anyway that give them the marks and most likely they are gonna have more then enough to get what they need anyway but hey...

Me personally I would like to see more quests for certain spells/abilities while it doesn't need to be the run through hoops Sleepga II type insanity quests, there were other scroll quests that were fine, they certainly can expand on those. Add in fights, it helps with exploring. People complaining they dont want it like XI dont understand it doesn't have to be exactly like XI...

If it drops from a mob or requires a instanced battle from a NM or two then simply make it a soloable thing that person can do at the level its needed or even be able to get it a few levels beforehand if good enough. If you bring a party along for such fights the fights should scale accordingly.

If they drop of mobs then simply again dont make them drop off of mobs too high for said person to get although you could vary the drop rates a tad for higher level mobs that drop them.

Example - say a lvl 40 scroll drops from lvl 40 mob/s at 5-10% have a lvl 50 mob that drops them more frequently. Just make sure that said mobs are in enough of abundance and in multiple areas that they are not monopolized. And if even that proves to be a problem simply have them non-sellable/tradeable.

I understand we are in this easy mode generation of instant gratification and people dont like to earn things anymore, Im not saying I want it all like XI were it was impossible at times but I dont want it gift wrapped right to me either.

Games like this to me are about the adventure and journey this way it would get you out exploring more and taking a small break from the daily grinds and offer added gameplay experience.

The OP is a terrible idea. The game already has too much busy work (most quests and missions seem to boil down to "walk all over the map for no apparent reason, then come back to me" rather than having anything interesting in terms of game play). Don't you feel like it's enough busy work just to grind out the levels to begin with? "Hey, guys, now that we're done grinding on these mobs for several hours, lets go grind our craft jobs so we can craft our spells, or farm some mobs with an incredibly low drop rate for even longer than we've been grinding xp in order to get our spells." Ridiculous. Anything an MMO can do to NOT feel like a second job, the better. Just say no.
