Is it possible with current stats (Max melded set) or it's only suitable for 2 star crafts and below.

I'd say you're almost certainly wasting your gil by melding that gear.
I found that Patrician full-melded set seems barely enough to hit "at least" stats for the new tool. Based on calculator, I get 353 Craft, 348 Control and 385 CP (FC buff and CP food included).
Fully melded HQ accessories and belt + 15 craftsmanship rating on your other HQ AF gear is just enough, getting the accessories and belt fully melded really helps if you craft across many classes
Right, I can only assume you're doing that so you can share that gear across classes? For not much more money you could get the HQ AF and have a higher stat ceiling, making your HQ's easier. It's going to be worth it for the class you're using to get your tools. Just trying to push you in the direction of the best long term option.I found that Patrician full-melded set seems barely enough to hit "at least" stats for the new tool. The patrician set is only good enough to be used up to the 2star tokens to trade-in for the artisan tools, if you want to go for 3star too it's better to go with the AF set for each class.

Allright, thanks for the replies.
patrician/dodore's good enough to spiritbond for chance getting t4 materia though.![]()
Once you get your AF, work on efficiently max-melding it. I melded all my DoH AF sets except WVR for the minimum I needed to HQ pre-2.2 items. I now have to craft a new AF Body piece for each of my other 7 DoH, and max-meld them. Each meld will require 2x Competence IV, which run over 100K each on Coeurl right now. They were closer to 40K until about a week after 2.2.
^^ This ^^
Let's see. Market price for AF items typically runs 15-30K per piece, then you have your set of jewelry which is cross class. Yes, you do need to get all 8 HQ AF sets for your DoH, but start with just one so you can start making your own sets for other classes.
I do not know about your server, but on mine, the IVs materia usually goes for 100K piece, and I know you will need at least 2 of them for the set, therefore, you just wasted 200K, which that can easily buy you 2-3 full AF sets for the 8 DoH classes.
Applying the max meld thread, fully meld the jewelry, plus just initial body meld, legs, and feet, will bring your basic stat to 353/348/345(388 w/food), which is more then plenty for making any HQ 2 stars. With my WVR at 3 shy at full meld, I am at 397/376/345. With only body to 4th meld, hands/legs/feet to 2nd meld, you will be sitting pretty at 389/363/345 with Artisan tool.
I highly suggest do it right from the get go, however expensive it may look at first.
