I've come across this issue as well, but to formally interact with those sorts of minions ( i.e. Wind-Up Sun or Baby Opo-Opo ), you have to be locked onto the minion itself before doing the /emote, by locking onto the minion and pressing X on the controller, or right clicking it on PC (?)
