Yeah, I don't blame you for thinking that. It's a lower cost of entry compared to a gaming pc, and non-tech-savvy parents who are getting their kids a console tend to go for whatever is cheapest. (though PS4 is no longer the cheapest since Xbox One is going to be sold, as an option, without the Kinect for the same $399) There are plenty of studies I've seen that show the age demographics for pc being several years older on average than consoles, since they are more expensive and require more knowledge for construction/upkeep/etc.

Hopefully this will start dying off a bit once all the people who got the game at release end their free month and decide they don't like it enough to continue, and it has been about a month since the PS4 release since my auto-renew just started recently.

I am on PS4, but also use a wireless usb keyboard for chatting, and am always open to giving/receiving advice, as long as people's attitudes are decent. I am even fine with others (i.e. especially while doing low level roulette) who are new and are dying as long as I can see they are making an effort and listening to what the other players are saying. I am still relatively new myself, and this is even my first mmo, though I put a good deal of effort into learning at least an overview of each class/job for future reference. I have not tanked yet, but even in the lvl 50 dungeons (not the hm ones) I have had to give the tank advice on extremely basic stuff...which honestly is pretty sad. Heck, even in temple of qarn (back when I was even with the level requirement) I had one game where we wiped 7 times at the first boss with all the instant death mechanics because of the tank being new, but because he was light-hearted about it and actually listened, we were able to pass it, and I didn't mind one bit that it took so long, as long as whoever was causing the holdup was able to visibly improve. As far as I'm concerned, as long as people are doing their best and not constantly screwing around, I don't care if it's not a super ideal party setup in terms of gear and experience.

Ugh, I still remember when I did Bray easy for the first time, and there was a newer player than me (in skill level) that was a tank. I was cursed at to the point my friends and I just dropped, simply because the tank jumped in without a protect and gathered way too many enemies in level 15ish gear and dropped dead and I get insulted. I tried to grin and bear it the first time, but the second time I just ended up dropping because I couldn't handle that player's attitude. It's arrogant newer people I seem to have a pet peeve with, and I will normally just keep my mouth shut, but if something is thrown onto me nowadays, I will call them out on it.

It's gotten to where its every dungeon 15-50 that has new players like this. I'm 50 Pld so i know how to tank but i was lvling my mrd and me and my wife(dps) qued Sastasha and i was marking targets for the new guy(dps) and we killed 2nd group of bats and I told my wife to go check the color rq while i marked these so it took her all of 30sec and apparently this wasn't fast enough because here came the sch(looked to be lvl 40ish) full charge miasma pulling the 3 mob group. after overpower like 4 times to take back hate we killed them and
i said "please don't pull buddy" and his reply "well you were never gonna do it" and then i told him "i was waiting for a reason" and the he goes off to pull 4th group solo again and me and wife just left and i told him to "Have fun tanking that!"

    I've noticed it's alot of
    1. not fighting in order
    2. trying to solo mobs
    3. not caring

this isn't to say alot of them aren't nice it's just becoming more common to have it the other way.
Also has anyone else noticed that alot of BLM are allergic to the sleep button now?

When I am doing my 10 guild heists for the Agenda as a tank, I see a lot of fresh players. First char, no other ones yet. I couldn't care less because it is a friggin guild heist but if they behave in dungeons like they behave there...oh my Goodness.

Each of them is a tank in disguise. Attack everything and do it as quick as you can. Be it healer or DPS. I like to just watch the mess they sometimes create with this behaviour. And ask myself if I maybe was the same when I started. I think not but who knows lol.

And there actually are a few guild heists that do have certain mechanics. As soon as it is not a "fire away" guild heist, the real mess starts. Worst is the one where you have to kill a few enemies around the same time to prevent them from getting reborn at full Health. What some people do even after the mechanics were explained is just funny..to some point where it gets really, really annoying. It is a mixture of having no clue and beeing immune to information and hints.
