    Stats Cap/SMN and MNK Questions

I wanted to know if there really is stats cap on intelligence? A friend of mine play BLM and I play SMN. He seems to think that BLM can do more dmg than a SMN because of the clumped dmg of the BLM vs DOT dmg of the smn. Also, on my SMN class after bonus I have 525 int stat but before bonus I have 510. I know that there are more powerful SMN\\'s out there but I want to know if the DOTs are suppose to do 500-700 DOT dmg after fester. I went into plenty of dungeons to test this theory. Same with the monk. I have seen DOT dmg on the MNK doing just as much. I am not by any means claiming anything is over-powered but it is something I noticed and is the reason for the stats cap question. If I stack more intelligence stat would that help to better enhance my DOT dmg for SMN?
Note: I\\'m not claiming to be an expert on anything within the game but I have my curiosities.

There is no stats caps for any stats. You can go as high as you want or as the gears available allows. The question then is what do you sacrifice in other stats to gain high of a specific stats but it only really applies for secondary stats like parry, determination, crit, skill/spellspeed. For main stats like Int, you want to stack as much as possible. Your friend is wrong in that when comparing BLM to SMN, the differences depends on the interval. If it's burst damage, BLM wins. If it's sustained damage, SMN wins. This is assuming similar level of expertise in the job. Int does not translate 1:1 to Fester damage. The higher you get it, the more damage you do. For your last question, yes, it increases your DOT damage as damage is calculated based on your main stats and potency. With the same potency, the higher the main stats, the higher the damage you get.

There currently are not any caps on any of the base stats or secondary.

As for DPS, it can all be situational. An AoE DPS is going to do better than single target DPS with large groups of mobs simply because, well, there're lots to hit. An example is the groups of mobs you can gather in Brayflox HM. That's why people tend to take BLM in to Bray HM instead of other jobs.

Thank you both and that makes perfect sense. Perhaps I should level a MNK class so that I can see the dmg of MNK DPS for myself. But from the perspective of other MNK's in dungeons and when I do not attack. The MNK job kills things just as quickly as the SMN in single target dmg. DOT dmg really does hurt lol. Not to mention, I used to believe that DOT dmg was weak even when it came to single targets but at higher levels, they are very powerful.
