My god I am SO BORED!!!

And not for the reason you immediately assumed.

My SSD died a week ago, been waiting for the new one to arrive since I ordered, but I have the underwhelming feeling of going through Windows install/updates again, re-installing FFXIV again and that nightmare.

Ordering right around the May long weekend realizing that I am waiting probably for another week until I can play again since I travel out of town for work often.

Yes, this is 100% a pity thread. I wish I could be playing right now. Just trying to get the boards sparked up with some conversation too since any other attempts people are so focused on the same ones over and over and over....

I find SSDs to still be far less reliable than a solid HDD. I've yet to put an SSD in my PC, crazy I know, but when I do I'll be using one of my HDDs to carry a full backup.

SSDed about 1 year ago. For OS and Main applications. Couldn't go back now.

For just storing data HDD fine.

As far as reliable. I've had many a HDD fail on me over the years. It's why I don't keep anything on the computer that I care if I lost it.

    Commendations.
If I play dps I only give it out to other dps.
If I play tank I only give it out to healers.
If I play healer I only give it out to tank.

Only if they should be getting a commendation.
There are always exceptions to the rules!

THisis true, right now I only use my SSD for Windows and related files to it, plus if I felt inclined a let 1 game I enjoy playing have access to the mighty powers of fast access. In this case would be FFXIV... Right now my spare HDD just sits there waiting until I cna access it again <tears>

This is why I don't mind driving 45 minutes to Microcenter and buying computer parts in person. I'm probably just lucky to have a decent computer parts store in the area though. I couldn't go back to a standard HDD at this point. I've had great luck with Intel SSDs and some immediate misfortune with a Corsair. I suppose it's about the same as I had with HDDs though. Mostly good but a couple bad apples here and there.

Funny you mention Corsair, that's what died on me. Corsair Force, it was about 4 years old with a lot of hours on it, but I expected it to last until the ends of time. I would have to side with some people that the reliability of SSD's isn't quite there yet, but neither were HDD when they were hitting the large GB size capacity, so I remain hopeful.

Plus, you are lucky to have a computer parts hardware dealer near you, I am jelly!
