Both 18hour Retainer Ventures *POOF* ;_;

I went to the summoning bell to get some materials from Bootyheiny. I noticed both my retainers had (Venture Complete) but I was in the middle of crafting and decided to grab the spoils later, so I got my materials and dissmissed her.

When I summoned Bootyheiny back to return the leftover mats, I noticed the option to view venture report was missing. I presumed I must have been going crazy and already taken the spoils but since I couldn't see anything about it in the chat log I decided to check with my other retainer, Milky.

I summoned Milky and saw the View Venture Report option, but ignored it and dismissed her (just to test! I mean surely I was mistaken, right?..). Then I summoned her back, and lo! The option to retrieve the haul had once again vanished ;_;

All the experience points for the retainers, the gil and the items ...lost ,,,;_;,,,

I'm sure it happened to me on another occasion in the past too, and I had put it down to me being crazy then, but now I'm pretty certain this happens. Is it just me? Has this happened to others? Intended design or bug?

Hmmm... You lose your retainer if you select 'Dismiss' (or something like that, can't remember right now), right? I mean, it seems you selected the wrong option. The worst one, indeed.

By dismiss I mean I closed the menu, and they said bye (in their own special way). I didn't check the report and then hit dismiss or something weird. I don't understand why not checking the report the very first time I summon my retainer would cause the experience they should have gained, and the loot / gil they would have brought back to simply vanish, as though they never did the venture to start with. I didn't get the venture coins refunded (nor do I want that, I want me 18hr exp and haul :/).

It's completely illogical, and not user friendly. Why on earth would I anticipate the 18hr venture being wiped from time and space, because I didn't check the report? Surely if the view report option dissapeared, the exp should apply to the retainer automatically and the loot would exist somewhere (either in their bags or mine). Why would the retainer just chuck it on the floor?

Sorry, but I find the two suggestions above really annoying, to suggest that I had made some error in judgement, and it feels like a typically frustrating knee jerk reaction of the forums. No offense to you guys personally, but I did find these answers frustrating and un-helpful. I can forgive this being a bug, but I can't accept it's some mistake resulting from my own foolishness...

What logical thought process could have possibly led me to believe the retainers venture (which had happened) would somehow be wiped from existence. How is that even within my or my retainers power to cancel what has been done already. Even if for some reason you believe I had suggested to the retainer I wanted them to throw the loot away, what on earth happened to the exp that they would have gained? The venture was done, whether I check the report or not.

I can understand your frustration these things happen.... You could disconnect or maybe your inventory is full because you just got back from harvesting if this is indeed how it works it may be a bug maybe you should submit it as such

I've used my retainers plenty of times without viewing the venture report, and it never disappears for me. Is that what you did, or did you view the report, but not accept the rewards? I'm just not clear on what you are saying that you did.

I didn't disconnect at the time and I had plenty of space in my bags (my own and retainers). I was considering adding a bug, but I'd want to reproduce the issue again to ensure I can report it properly. Before doing that and losing more venture tokens / time I wanted to check if this was something other people experienced too, or perhaps if I missed something obvious and the items weren't truly lost.

Hi yeah, exactly what I did. I simply noticed the venture was complete but didn't actually open / check the report. I just grabbed something from the retainers bags.

Thanks for confirming it's not by design. I'll re-test and submit a proper bug report.

Yep, PS3 and PC. Though the whole process was done on just PS3:

1. summon retainer (displays "venture complete")
2. get materials from retainer bag
3. close retainer window
4. craft
5. summon retainer (noticed the "venture complete" no longer displayed, and only option to Assign Venture. No exp applied to retainer and didn't notice additional items anywhere.)

However, I can't remember which machine I initiated the ventures from the day before.

Seems likely, from 2.2 patch notes:

* The status of retainers dispatched to procure items is saved locally to your computer, PlayStation®3, or PlayStation®4, which may result in the display of incorrect information when changing systems. Summoning a retainer once via a summoning bell will update the status of their ventures on that system.

Could this be what happened?
