Actually, if you prefer to do things like crafting/gathering and making gear, you can make a bit of gil. .

But why would you need i90 gear if you don't do content that requires it?
If it is used to progress through the post level 50 story do you think they will have much success if they don't have much group experience?
It makes 100% sense for someone to earn gil and decide to own every minion or other collectable that they can get their hands on. That could be their endgame.
It doesn't make sense to grind gil to buy gear you don't need, unless it makes them look good.
