MMO tourists (people that flit from game to game but never spending significant time at endgame) want the games to be changed to suit their playstyle. The people that pay the subs for extended periods of time spend the time at endgame and part of the fun of playing the game is earning new gear and doing challenging content. Without that population a MMO is doomed to failure.
I don't like to spend significant time at emdgame, and I spent 8 years happily paying a monthly sub in Coty of Heroes. I had 37 alts, just 3 of them were at the level cap, and only 1 of those was my 'endgame content' toon, who did the repeatable raids etc for the acheivements. There was nothing 'tourist' about me then. CoH was still makingba profit when NCSoft killed it, just prior to their launch of GW2.

It's frustrating to me that endgame raid fans seem utterly unable to comprehend that adding stuff to cater for altitis types like me doesn't mean they get to lose out. How many times do I have to say I'm on the same side as you? I will fight to the death for your right to grind raids at the level cap. I just think that an MMO that can turn a 'tourist' into a longtime subscription payer by offering a wider range of goodies will be far less likely to fail.

I have read a book. It was ok. It was green, I think.

Pages 1-180 were interesting, and then pages 181-200 were great, but when I read that last chapter over and over again anout 30 times I got bored and decided to stop. My friend Bob says I should go to the library, apparently there's loads more books there but I just want this last chapter of the one I've got here to be enough. Can tou imsgine, reading another page 1-180? Pfff.

You should have seen the complaints by people that wanted to do the main storyline in 2.0 as a crafter or gatherer just like in 1.0. Cause playing a crappy minigame to "negotiate" and being able to do nothing but throw rocks in battle and fights being dumb as hell because of it was so fun!

The answer is yes and no. You can level up crafts and make upto ilvl 90 gear, buying the myth materials from the market board. Do treasure maps and bestman dailies to earn myth at a slow pace. Or odd roulette dungeons just for a boost on myth. Supposably they are increasing myth drops too at some point, maybe 2.28 which "should" come next week if it is still slated for this month.

Also other activities outside dungeon crawling are coming. We already have gardening, plus golden saucer and chocobo breeding are listed as being added. Personal housing also which will occupy players time.

But simple answer, if you want the gear fast, then yes, dungeon crawling, If time to acquire gear isn't a problem. then not so much.

lol what would it be in game? Some sort of huge defense buff (making Frodo untargetable sace for AoEs, I'd assume?) but with a cumulative risk of getting teleported straight to the endgame boss? He was also lvl 1 when it dropped, so by rights shouldn't really have been able to equip it!

Dear Devs, please nerf The One Ring, or I quit my sub!

    Yours, Sauron.

I would like to point out that you're a tanking class and tanking classes get almost instant queues throughout all game content because there's a lot less people playing them compared to healers and DPS.

Tanks get the fastest queues, then healers, and DPS are stuck at the bottom of the barrel because of the fact that there's way way more DPS players in the game. DPS queues can take anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour, unless they're queuing with a healer or tank.

As for Axiom's problem: you can buy crafted i70 weapons, armor, and accessories from the Market Boards in the three main City States. Those will help you boost your item level to reach the other content. Considering the highest iLvl for dungeon content in the game (aside from raids and primal fights) is i55, you should be fine. Also, myth grinding can go quick if you simply do roulettes and also join an active Free Company or LinkShell and group up with other players beforehand. Complaining about being forced to do dungeons or other party based content in an MMO is like complaining about water being wet.

That is not fun for me at all. That tedious 'grind' I believe to be one of the biggest problems with MMO's at the moment and this game forces you to do it, it's not even a choice.
I was like you as well.. I'm not fond of being forced into doing something in a free land that MMO should give you.. then came invisble walls o.O?

Grinding = MMO. At least Korean ones Hardcore players will still burn into all content before anyone else, and will feel bored. You cannot circumvent that, no matter the amount of stuff you put it. If you put more than they can chew, it's viewed as a challenge for them by the DEVs "challenge accepted!" Some might even skip shower-eat-sleep to be the first!

Back to us - casual play.. ok back to you

If you cannot stand the little grind this game has, by no means try to get the Atma - Animus route. It's not made for you, and I don't say that so that you feel alienated, but just so you can enjoy the rest of the content.

Are you part of an FC, I mean, a decent one? That chat and dungeon and fate parties and help will overweight the feeling of grinding, or the same 10th dungeon this week.

You have a place in here with us (might see you through Duty Roulette ) Hope the story will make you enjoy this fabulous game.

All MMOs have grind , dungeons, Quests, Gear.. Hope you will find what you like. Best of luck.

Why dont people want to play tanks? Tanks are awesome. My favourite types are buffers/debuffers, but FF doesn't seem to have any.
