Research a game before you buy it, if you are surprised you need to do dungeons in an MMO, I don't know what to tell you... If you don't like dungeons you don't like the gameplay.

Find a good company and get them to run with you that's what we do I have moods where I don't want to do any duns but they are fun too if you get friends to run withif your on exodus id be happy to help out

I don't like to hit things in RPG's.

Go read a book is my suggestion.

I have read a book. It was ok. It was green, I think.
Pages 1-180 were interesting, and then pages 181-200 were great, but when I read that last chapter over and over again anout 30 times I got bored and decided to stop. My friend Bob says I should go to the library, apparently there's loads more books there but I just want this last chapter of the one I've got here to be enough. Can tou imsgine, reading another page 1-180? Pfff.

You should have seen the complaints by people that wanted to do the main storyline in 2.0 as a crafter or gatherer just like in 1.0. Cause playing a crappy minigame to "negotiate" and being able to do nothing but throw rocks in battle and fights being dumb as hell because of it was so fun!
The answer is yes and no. You can level up crafts and make upto ilvl 90 gear, buying the myth materials from the market board. Do treasure maps and bestman dailies to earn myth at a slow pace. Or odd roulette dungeons just for a boost on myth. Supposably they are increasing myth drops too at some point, maybe 2.28 which "should" come next week if it is still slated for this month.
Also other activities outside dungeon crawling are coming. We already have gardening, plus golden saucer and chocobo breeding are listed as being added. Personal housing also which will occupy players time.
But simple answer, if you want the gear fast, then yes, dungeon crawling, If time to acquire gear isn't a problem. then not so much.

Why dont people want to play tanks? Tanks are awesome. My favourite types are buffers/debuffers, but FF doesn't seem to have any.

Some people don't like the pressure of having to lead a group or have your success hinge on the group's success. I've played tanks in games before and it can feel horrible if something you did caused everything to fall apart. But there's also the flip side to that as well; it feels great knowing that YOU were the one that decided who lived and died. That goes with both heals and tank.

Look! Fresh meat.

What I read here is the same complaint in other mmo’s. It’s how the elitist players in the game ruin the enjoyment of the vast majority of other players that do not have the time or perhaps the skill to be the perfect player. You must have Ixx gear or you can’t play. You must cast this spell at this time and stand here or you get flamed with LTP. In this game the problem is even more severe. From the very first instance I walked into a lvl 50 across the board in ALL classes rushes you through it without as much as a hello. It is exactly this behavior that turn many people off to grouping.
