exactly meaning confirming your own account being Hijacked, it wouldn't be too hard to have them put the confirm for credit card and at the same time trojan you.

If you weren't buying gil to begin with then it wouldn't of happened so yes it has everything to do with buying gil. I would say the chances of you not getting hacked are slim, because RMT they will snatch the account take your gil then sell it, then steal account take their gil sell it. that's how they operate.

Just remember FFXI sites that did the same stuff back then, also about the security companies knowing more, I don't think they do, I hear people getting jacked even using the auth. key codes and Sony and letsplay and all these game companies had security breaches even valve recently.

yes they improve but so do scumbags.

You have to remember that they are a business, doing that would not be good for them. And while there exist those shady once that would probably do that, they are the minority.

It's a lot easier for them to just bot/farm or buy from players, then it is to hack accounts. Not only that, RMT is legal. Why would they risk everything by doing something illegal like hacking accounts?

So while the risk exist, it's very small.

Even bags of bronze, Silver and Gold pouches cant be traded. that's how I would stop them.
If SE did that how do you expect people to buy large houses if you couldnt trade gil?

    This.

If I ever found out someone I know bought gil, I'd promptly black list and report them. By buying gil from RMTs you're saying that you support spam and hacking accounts.

if you ban the buyers and make it known that buyers will be banned, rather then ban sellers, people will think twice because they would pay real life money and then get banned thus a net real life loss....and for some people it is still alot of money even if a few dollars.

Remove buyers and sellers will disappear. If there is no demand, what is the point in having the offer right ?.

What amazes me though, is the number of gil sellers banned, it is very very low. Only a few hundreds, when me alone on one server I have my black list full of ..only gil sellers, me alone I have 200 gil sellers blocked. I have informed SE that my black list is only and exclusively full of gil sellers..They are still there ...so really I find it amazing that within the number of servers and the like only 400 or so gil sellers are banned now and then when they decide to check. Fact is there is no real will as such to remove them from the game, this is my perception of course.

The best way to fight against gil sellers is giving the players no reason to buy gil.
Like during 1.0, where a leve reward gave you around 10k gil and sometimes even 50k gil or 100k gil (with revalue the reward of a new leve through already finished leves). And the only real gil sink at launch was the NPC repair, with repair cost of 80k gil for a level 45+ gear (and it only got repaired up to 50%). Many people just gave the next crafter 5k gil for a 100% repair.

Of course we would then have inflation, because more people would have enough gil to stabilize many items at a high price.
