no thanks, enough RMT spam as it is. I would like a better search function, rather than a drop down box window.

This has been my opinion since launch. There is no reason I should have to friend everyone in my FC to mail them. We are a cooperative group and that should include mail.Given the amount of spam, I'm grateful that people I don't have as friends can't mail me, except for two cases:
(1) People in my Free Company
(2) People on my account (wait, that's ME!)
I don't allow RMT accounts into my FC, and I do not allow RMT accounts onto my own account. I see no reason to be protected from these two cases.
I'm sure this has some crazy RMT-preventative reasons behind it, but I would love to have the option to mail ONLY items to other people without the need to have them be on your friend list. No message allowed, just sending the item. And for those people who want to send messages + items, keep the rule of them having to be on your friend list.
They can see where the money is going without the asinine restriction of not being able to move gil/items between characters on the same account. Hell if anything it makes it EASIER to track and deal with since it's not involving additional accounts.
I would boast on that Ellem good show!
Hopefully they keep the system the way it is now. I do not want to log on and find 100 mails(or whatever the max is) from RMTs.
At some point I'd stop bothering to check and any real mails would likely go unnoticed; that or no one would be able to mail me since 99% of the time my mailbox would probably be maxed out by RMTs.
Why don't you just add someone to your friends list if you want to send them a message? What is so hard in this? I understand for those that want to send to their own accounts, this should be addressed somehow, but as for everyone else... just add them.
As for your FC members, I understand that it's a bit ridiculous having to add a lot of them, but what about other FCs where they have a large FC of hundreds of players, try sifting through all of those to find what you need. I understand you could change the input method, but it just gets messy any way you look at it. If you frequently send people in your FC items, you could just trade with them after all.

Unless it's constantly overflowing, the FC chest could take care of both these problems.Given the amount of spam, I'm grateful that people I don't have as friends can't mail me, except for two cases:

Seems that most people don't understand why its a bad thing that people can't send you stuff via mailing system. First and by far foremost so people for the first time trying to contact you can without you being online. Most forget you can't send a friend request without them being online! So say your a high tier player looking to be invited into a free company to be part of the raid group but can't find the person posting on the forums in game. You can't contact them any other way unless it is outside via traditional E-mail. Second crafters would be able to craft things and be able to send it in the mail. This would be better if they could do a Pay On Delivery system so you can name a price before sending it and then to receive it you get a mail back with the gil. There are many reasons as this would benefit the game mainly through the fact that the friend system is broken aswell. Yes RMTs are an issue where is my report RMT button MY BLACK LIST HAS BEEN FULL FOREVER. I shouldn't have to take my time to fill out a form to get rid of them in which isn't reactive anyways. It's high time they fix things with the entire social system. It's not just one area that needs to be fixed this was something that was pissing me off for the day. But it's a multitude of issues that makes the social system in game something you have to work around most of the time. Which it should be seamless.
