How is the RMT Tell Spam on your Server?

Recently a friend of mines was interested in getting back into this game and when he attempted to make a new character on Ultros to join me, he received notice that there was a restriction on new character creations. That's weird because according to http://xivsoul.com/ Ultros has one of the lowest amounts of players in an FC. This can only mean that our RMT overlords have literally taken over the server.

I'm not sure how exactly RMT operates on other server to acquire customers, but in Ultros they bombard player's chat box with tells. Would it be possible given time and financial constraints to have SE's FFXIV division to set a restriction regarding the usage of the tell feature? Examples:

• Only send/receive tells to/from people on your on your friends list or FC.
• Only send a limited number of tells to a limited number of people within a certain time frame. Amount can be increased for the specific individual one is communicating with if he or she responds.
• A quest must be completed at a certain level in order to either gain access to the tell feature or remove a tell limit restriction.

While I don't believe that RMTs can be completely removed from the FFXIV community, I do find their tell spam to be an annoying aspect of their activities which I would like to see less of. Not sure if its as bad on other servers.

Character creation restrictions are turned on and off periodically throughout the day and it's based on the number of people that are logged on at the time. Since it's the middle of the day on Sunday there's a lot of people on.

Just have him try again later at night or in the morning but he might be able to brute force it.

Anyways on Hyperion I don't receive too many RMT tells, personally. Maybe 2 an hour? It seems to come and go but I don't get outright flooded or anything.

Not too bad on Moogle. I get about one or an evening. Blacklist it first time and usually never get one again. After I blacklisted one tonight I've received no more.

I receive a tell from an RMT every 5-10mins on Ultros in certain areas. If it was 1-2 every hr, I wouldn't mind it, but when it clusters one's chatbox while one is attempting to have a conversation with a friend, thats when it bothers me.

I'm on Moogle as well and lately I rarely get tells, days can pass without one. I have seen yesterday and RMT shout for the first time since I've started playing.

It was not until the last few weeks, but I seem to be blocking 3 or 4 persons per hour in Lamia. It is getting very annoying.

Boom and bust on Phoenix. You can go 2 weeks without receiving a single tell and then receive 100 of them in 10 mins.

I get a tell about every 10 mins. On one hand I hate the constant spam. On the other hand I'm almost glad to see it as the only games I've played that didn't have the spam problem with RMT have been dying games with dwindling populations.
