Bard and Soldiery Gear Help.

Okay so all this time since beta I was under the impression that I was supposed to be focusing on Acc then Crit, then Det.

now I've bought all the pieces that were clear upgrades, but the remaining pieces all give up Crit in favor of skill speed but they do give a bit more Dex / Stam.

So what I'm asking is is the net gain of 14 Dexterity worth the 81 Crit I'm gonna lose?

Not really. You have to take in account that you lose hitrate with songs. I don't know how to get around the ilvl gear reqs without leveling up gear though... Even if it's just temporary.

all the guides I've seen assume you are doing T6-7 and getting the weathered stuff upgraded, what I'm trying to find out is what is my best options prior to that. I only have a semi-static at best, and they have yet to down T6 reliably, much less farm gear from it.

I have all the myth and Coil 1-5 gear except the bow, and am working on the Atma (3rd book so far.)

Don't spend your tomes on crappy gear unless you have nothing better to buy with them.
The good pieces are Torso, Belt, Earring, Bracelets and Ring (the ring is crappy, but actually there isn't something better).
The neck is decent, but not wonderful.
The rest is just crap. If you don't do stupid mistakes on T6/7, you don't even need a full i90 set is enough.

And about crafted gear, the boots are worth it, when you compare them with the Allagan i90, they can give you Crit +6 and ACC + 21.

Bard got the shaft this update.

Most of our soldiery gear sucks. Nearly all of our high allagan pieces are mediocre. The pants from Turn 8 is the only non weapon actually amazing. The rest is merely serviceable.

Eh maybe the CT 2 gear will be decent. guess I'll just spend the rest on Summoner for giggles, I doubt I'm gonna level another job to 50 until they release Thief / Musketeer / Red Mage.
