Market wards are just a place for those to sell stuff in bazaars. If you ever played ffxi you will see why they are a good idea. And were infact added. Even with an AH in ffxi, hundreds of players had personal stalls set up 24/7 cluttering jeuno and the outskirt areas. This caused unneeded lag in the game. Instead of running your game 24/7 the wards and retainer system was put in place. SE just needs to clean them up.

Actually Market Wards have a limit as well, 10 items on sale per retainer, only 3 more slots than in XI. People still set up their characters with bazaars along the main street in Ul'dah while they're AFK.
