there was a game I played where mages could kite their second strongest single target spell and it was great~ Even with the spell being strong and improving solo survivability it wasn't OP and it feels better than standing still with cast times.
But this is FF14 and not the game I played and though I'd love it, yes, I'd rather play the game envisioned by FF14's developers. It's just a personal preference/opinion of mine *-*
Variety is the spice of life~
Edit: Since I still have 10mins before I go to work I'll post an expansion on my opinion~
One of the reasons I don't see this ever happening is because i wouldn't see this as particularly fair. If you could just run endlessly during a boss fight you'd never have to worry about AoE's hitting you lol. It would give BLMs sort of an easy ride through harder encounters. EVen Bards, if memory serves me correctly (don't jump on me over this my archer is 15 >.>) have to stand still to use a proper rotation for damage.

The unique perspective of Touhou in my own words and why it is different from the typical game or manga c:

I'm not trying to be rude but I don't get how so many people can come to this conclusion after reading the OP. I'm not asking for mages to attack on the run (which would be cool, I too know of games that have done this very very well) but rather, I just want my character to spin in place so that when one of the many things occur that would cause me to need to do so, I could just do so without any problems.
