you and a bunch of others in this thread need to re read the OP a few times. I'm not going to explain what i meant every other post.Correct me if I am wrong but you cannot compare BLM damage to a BRD damage simply due to the class mechanics.
I am certain if the devs know what they are doing in equal gear the BLM should put out more damage than the BRD just because the BLM cannot move and continue to attack as fast as the BRD. I could be wrong, but logically I don't think I am.
I haven't ran BLM all that much but on SCH I can turn my back on someone and still cure them (Firing cures at both tanks during T1 for example). Do magic spells on monsters act differently? If so I haven't noticed it on SMN either. Do you have the option checked to face your target? That could be your problem. Without that checked I have to physically turn my DRG or I can't attack for lack of LoS. An enemy dying but your CD being eaten is unfortunately inevitable in some situations since the monster being dead signal can very easily reach your client AFTER the signal reaches the server that your cast finished. Even at low latencies the delay from the signal going back and forth from the server can be enough to make these events happen out of order and eat your CD as a result.
Variety is the spice of life, while some times armor/weapons may look stupid you can now glamor them if you don't like them or be happy you have options. What YOU don't like someone else might.1. Mage Gear needs to change drastically. Myth/soldier/AF gear is alright, and there are variants of dungeon gear that are acceptable, but as a low level player even running dungeons and getting dungeon loot the mage sets are absolutely retarded. There were so many pictures i wanted to take but I didn't want people seeing me run around in a dunce hat with tiny glasses and a huge lame fluffy coat for BiS for that level. Coincidentally, I couldn't find any pictures of this crappy armor on google...hmm wonder why. But running around in gear like this makes me more embarrassed to play the game than anything. Horrible, horrible idea.
You're asking for an aesthetic change really, while I agree shields is slightly silly, a staff with 30 int should be no worse or better of equal level of a wand with OH of 15/15 INT for example. THe same complaint about your robe head problem, it's all an aesthetic problem, the stats by comparison I noticed are the same when it comes to equal level headpiece vs no headpiece options.2. 2h weapons/multi slot gear should be changed. Robes that dont allow you to equip headpieces can most of the time look cool, but in terms of actual gear for PvE its such a bad idea. They usually have extra stats to compensate for no helmet, but then you just level up a couple times and you can find gear thats way better than it. Also with 2 handed mage weapons, you only use ONE hand and the actual stats aren't any better than 1h weapons. If it weren't for the fact that devs made every end game weapon "2h" these 2h weapons would have no actual advantage over 1h weapons and it's actually quite the opposite. 1h has a much higher advantage. I feel that if mages are going to only wield weapons with one hand, we shouldn't be holding shields but rather other magical items to boost damage or some other stat.
Spells cancelling from movement is a classic choice, it "breaks" your concentration and as a result your spell is reset. There was a time when we played games to have this thing called immersion.3. Mage casting neeeeeeds to be fixed. As a BLM there are so many frustrations with casting. First off lets talk about spells getting cancelled. Why? Why is this a thing? Archers can attack mobs from behind them and on the move but I cant even hit a moving target? And I'm not talking about full board running across the screen I mean, just slight changes in their position on the map. Also, since I play with a controller if my thumb stick gets tapped even in the SLIGHTEST, it'll cancel the spell entirely.
Casting is how mages do damage, but as a blm so many things cancel your spells it's ridiculous. Lets go over exactly how many ways a spell can be cancelled.
A. Character movement. Even if you tap the stick/button on accident while your fingers and hands are flying all over the place your spell gets cancelled effectively damaging your dps.
B. If a monster moves too far to the right or left. Archers can shoot their bow forward and hit monsters from behind, but mages don't have enough common sense to just slightly turn a little bit when a monster is 1 degree outside their casting cone. This has got to be the most annoying one ever. People like to kite in circles or even when I'm just trying to help someone dying. WHY oh WHY does this have to be done so crappy? Not only that but your field of view to the right has a larger field of view than your left. I've been able to cast spells when monsters are around 90 degrees from the center of my character, but my left side they get to about 45 degrees and its interrupted.
C. If you get hit with an attack. Seriously. WHY? My damage is insane and if I get hit with a map event or pull aggro because the tank is crappy I can no longer do any damage. I cant even protect myself from their damage because I cant heal because FOR SOME REASON someone thought it was a good idea for a junk mob to be able to cancel your attacks.
D. Glitch. Sometimes i'll be casting and it wont do anything and i'll have to cast again. ironically this only happens when i really need it to not glitch.
E. Probably the most infuriating. When an enemy dies. WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY? I understand when I'm locked on to a single target and it doesn't auto target another, but in this case WHY does it still cast the spell and use my proc or mana? It actually acts like I cast the spell but the guy died while I was casting so I just for free get to waste my time and resources. But that's not the infuriating part. No no. I'll be casting a spell, its almost done and it'll auto target to another target which usually is the target I would like to hit. Ok cool...so what's the problem? When it auto selects another target it'll still cancel the friggen spell. WUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT? Please fix this. Please dear god fix this.
A. Learn to handle your controller better.
B. I never had this problem as severe as you make it out to be. Could this be the result of answer A?
C. If you're pulling aggro it's not necessarily the Tank's fault, maybe...JUST maybe, you should be watching YOUR threat generation. If you're letting the Tank do their job first those 3-5 seconds you sat back to let them get threat will not interfere with your life long enough to cause issues.
D. I think I have experienced this too, not sure if it's a server/client problem or in-game issue.
E. A minor annoyance, again can be avoided for the time being because you should be able to anticipate monster death especially for Trash mobs before you get so invested into an attack.
You're right, it does suck. No issues here.
This is core game design 101, learn to get into a Static or dedicated FC or find friends to play with, this will never change, if you don't know your role and what you're doing in content in this game, guess what. You will die.5. Raiding completely sucks as well. Don't get me wrong, some of the fights can be good. I like CT a whole lot but the coil just makes no sense to me. Bosses are overly complicated and EVERYONE needs to know their role. That sucks for me on a brand spanking new server and I cant just DF a good crew because everoyne who is good will have a full party. But what i just mentioned isn't the problem I have with coil. No no, its the sudden need to pay attention to accuracy. Why? Not only has accuracy never been a problem before endgame but people are spending time and working on getting i100 gear that's completely useless. Lets be honest though, even IF you had full i100 gear on these raid bosses would STILL be hard. So why is it necessary to not only make overly complicated boss that requires all 8 players (9 if you count pets) to know exactly what to do when to do it or else you all die AND restrict gear so much?
I agree, limiting post size is ridiculous.
It used to bug me, but just dismount, they did post why they do that at some point and I can see when it would be rather stupid, I wish for it sometimes, but I don't necessarily pine over it either. As for swicthign classes, I play with a mouse/keyboard, these problems don't exist for me like they do for you. Did you know you can drag your different classes from your character panel into your hot bars?
This is sadly something that will come over time. There's nothing they can do about this within 30 days to satiate everyone's appetite.8. Increase content other than hard boss fights. This game is seriously lacking things to do once you hit endgame. I know I don't have to do endgame, but there aren't many things I can do with my favorite class at a certain point. I can run a bunch of low level dungeons, fates or guildleves but it's redundant because there is no real reward. I feel that if we could imply trade dungeon loot most of this would be fixed.
I can empathize with your annoyance, but really? This is not really a big deal, I may agree with you that getting slowed for 30 seconds is annoying, but did you know mobs have line of sight? most you can walk behind and avoid aggro.9. Fix enemy aggro on maps. I'm level 50 with ilvl 94 but these level 40-46 monsters can still aggro me? I keep getting missions where I need to go into these high aggro places and it's absolutely infuriating. Also, when they cast slow on you for NO REASON. Whats even worse is they for some reason thought it was a good idea to map the menu and map button on the same button so when i get hit and it auto locks on to the jerkoff chasing me and i want to look at my map, i'll bring up an utterly useless menu and select attack when I should be looking at my map.
This is a latency thing I am pretty sure, I can do both, I can complete casts at certain points in the bar and move and other times I get the latter. Great for healing Titan sometimes when you know you can complete the heal at x% of bar completion.10. Cast bars that are 99% done and still get interrupted even when it's actually complete and your character is making the animation. I'm pretty sure when I use a key or some other specific item i don't need to stand still and throw it in the air and watch it rain like confetti. I'm sure I can run and still turn this piece of metal into confetti.

(True Strike)The BLM rotation is quite simple but you're a turret, you can't move once you've opened fire, that's the deal. Pretty much all of what is mentioned in the OP is the difference between a good BLM and a bad one, a good one will move as little as possible and still not get hit by avoidable damage. A bad one will either eat all avoidable damage or run around interupting himself all day, there is a skill/knowledge to it and it just sounds to me like the OP hasn't learned that yet.
As for low level gear yeah some of it doesn't look that great but you spend so little time in it there is no point getting upset about it in my opinion, I'd rather the art department spent their time on more long lasting stuff to be honest.
Most classes look silly low level also, looking like they have oven mitts and such.
This is not True. Queues pop in prime time in 2-10 minutes.
I don't know how to do it on a controller, but if you right-click and drag you can pivot your character in-place. There should be an equivalent on the controller. Just make sure that when you are rotating, you are rotating your character, and not just your camera.
Questing is like participating in an Old Spice Commercial - Talk to me, talk to him, talk to me, talk to him, Now Talk To Me...Sadly, you are not done, back to him, look there, its that mob I never liked, back to me, back to him...I'm in the Waking Sands.
