HUGE CONNECTION PROBLEM

I cant even get to the character screen -it keeps saying the server is having connection problems --if so why don't they hire a different server company

So last time I was paying for this game we had repeated server "maintenance" and a LOT of down time.. NOW, only a month after we re-subbed (maybe less), the NA servers are having issues. Issues. More issues.

We are PAYING for this time. I get that there are server issues and it just happens sometimes but this is ridiculous. Are your servers powered by freaking hamster wheels?? And if you CAN'T figure it out, you should be adding the time that we are missing to our subs. This isn't a difficult concept to grasp.

It's Level 3 Communications. (Internet backbone that ISP's use for services.) If you are having problems. Check out this site to see how Level 3 is operating.

My problem with this explanation is that FFXIV seems to be the only online service affected in any measurable way.

While I fully believe that level3 is a steaming pile, they've been like that for ages. The fact is that FFXIV is far FAR too sensitive to connection issues. It's probably fine in Japan where none of the connections have to go all that far, but in the US a connection has to travel potentially thousands of miles. So any minor hiccup at any point along that route is magnified and by the time it gets to Montreal, it's unusable.... but only FFXIV cares. Other internet services account for the fact that cross-continent infrastructure kinda sucks and adjusts its netcode accordingly so people aren't getting booted all the time.

That is completely within SE's power to correct.

I've been getting a huge connection issue the last few days. The game was running normally as it always has and then suddenly yesterday's EX roulette, I was getting lag spikes every 2-4 seconds for the entire run. As a healer, this was terrible. Only 1 out of every 5 cures actually cured. Other members told me I was jumping all over the screen all run long. I called my ISP and they said my connection was fine. I even tried hardbooting the modem and PC... everything was running normally. Had no issues since until I entered today's EX... same crap all over again... lag spikes every 2-4 seconds for the entire run.

I'm with Reikon, I've been having serious lag and disconnection issues lately. These happen whether I'm gathering in a vacant zone, running a dungeon, or doing a solo duty for the Main Story. I've restarted the computer, checked the router, and all that. My wife's computer works just fine on the net but for some reason FFXIV is having major troubles.

i seem to be having skill lag sumtimes my combos arent chaining together example i use fast blade on paladin but the combo prompt for savage blade dosent appear as if my fast blade didnt hit the mob im hitting even though on screen i am hitting the enemy this started yesterday ive tried reseting my router but its still happening also im on ps4.

few days later and im still having skill lag and now it seems to be happening on any job i play i use abilities and my character will begin the action but not complete it just stop as if i never used the action also its affecting casting bars ill be useing ruin 3 or miasma on summoner and when the cast bar is half way it will just stop casting by itself, ive tried reseting my router and checked with my isp provider but its fine honestly i might just stop playing altogether cuz its affecting my play.

The issue is with where the data centers are located. North America data center has moved and will be back online tonight at midnight. This actually my be a test run to see if moving the data centers will resolve the connectivity issue. However this is only my speculation.
