Not sure if mages really need even more power and soloability in this game.
Don't get me wrong, I loved Dancer in FFXI, but in FFXIV I think the mages are pretty good right now in terms of their DD ability.
I'd be for this idea maybe down the road a bit, after re-balancing changes come with the upcoming battle changes.
Dancer was one of my higher jobs as well (lv81) and it was a fun job since it could not only heal/support, but also tank if called to do so. It was also the only job OTHER than Samurai that could participate in 5~7 skillchains
This would be a little different play style, but I was expecting something more like a Chloromancer from Rift.
They would play different from Dancer too. Dancer has the front line role of attacking while supporting. The Chloromancer has the dual role of combining ranged spell damage with heal effects as a convert % as well as pure heal spells too from the back line.
As for how we work this into Final Fantasy, I'm not too sure. Geomancer maybe? Chloromancers do focus on nature based attacks.
warhammer gave me a huge hate for front line healers, less u had pocket heals that knew what they was doing u didn't get healed right. mele healers always became mele classes over heal, they just healed themselves. they were a waist of life in a mmo. personally i'd like to see all healing done away with in pvp games, tired of them completly, they ruin pvp games and my good times. lmao or make every class abitly to self heal in different ways in them ...
but this game is a pve game so it can work, though i didn't ever remember running to grab a dancer for my grinds or anything for that matter. it can be a fun class though if done right but a class that can do both usually means they will do both half as good as a class that does one or the other witch can be a prob.
maybe have it a class that is solo like bst? i dunno if they make it so u can fix stats to be mele or heal stronger, we all know that class will be wishy woshy, u shout for a heal and u end up with one with mele stats that cant' heal u threw a boss or something after waisting hours in a dungeon. or what have u. but like i said this is a pve game so might work more then in pvp witch i have to repeat ...i hate dps healers.

The thing that I didn't like about DNC was that every melee would use it for a sub for soloing and small group things. But FFXI was/is broken with their MP regen.
For FFXIV, I'm not sure how they'd implement a front line healer, but I kind of hope that they don't.

Peach Parfait/Khulan Angura on Gilgamesh
I actually like the idea of battle priests. I know Rift had something like it called a Chloromancer which gave DoT heals through damage. From what I heard it was pretty fun. I'd like to see something like this in FFXIV as it's own class/job though, not a mix-match of class abilities.

Insulting people in the counter argument isn't going to change their minds. It will make them stick harder to their opinion regardless of whether or not it's right, and think less of your opinion simply because you insulted them. In essence, if you want to try and change someone's mind, come up with a well thought-out response and don't be a dick.
Front Line Healers are rarely ever "Mages" They tend to use secondary power sources like "Faith" or "Rage (TP in FFXI/XIV)" or "Damage Counters" to power the healing. And very rarely do the magic stats power the healing its normally powered by Vit, Strength or Dex.Not sure if mages really need even more power and soloability in this game.

I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.
