Everyone says healing and tanking are thankless jobs, but healers and tanks get more commendations than DPS.

This is definately true, because the groups survival is really dependent on many of the little decisions that tanks and healers make, so if everything goes smoothly it was executed well thus earning commendations.

It's also the most unforgiving. You can be sure that if I lose aggro at least ONE time on a tank I won't get commendations or if the healer lets one person die even if they are standing in something avoidable. If the entire group wipes, the commendations are all probably going to the dps at the end of the dungeon. What is most common I see though is tanks and healers giving commendations to each other. I usually receive one commendation at the end, and I generally assume it's from the healer, and I also get one commendation from the tank at the end of my healing runs. This is speaking in terms of a 4 man group.

Lately I have been grouped with pretty decent players. I have had a couple squishy tanks that would pull everything to first boss in brayflox hm and flip out when I can't keep them up, I just ignore them and ask them politely to pull a bit less next time. I love healing and a couple idiot players unkind words will not destroy that love anytime soon. It does seem like there are less healers queuing for DF because I see the healer bonus all the time.

I still pretty much see the healer bonus only on the low level roulette everyday. Otherwise for me, trials, main scenario, high and expert almost always show tank all the time.

I was surprised, though yesterday. I actually saw DPS as one of the bonuses on yesterday's trials. Only lasted for a few minutes, because shortly after it was back to tank.

They do get more, but I don't think commendations justify putting up with some of the stuff the tanks and dps say (or do) >.< I mean commendations get you a pope crown with a matching chocobo hatchling minion and a weirdly recolored magitek mount that hardly anybody wants or uses.

As a healer, commendations are the last thing on my mind when I go in to dungeons.

Is part of the problem the syncing in the low level roulettes?

As a level 50 healer I can basically keep a group alive in low level du geons regardless of how bad the tank is. I've recently run a few low level dungeons that I'm pretty sure the tank didn't even understand that they were supposed to use enmity builders. Single cure spell and all the mobs were on me and he/she didn't even make a half assed attempt to pull them back.
Most of the time they can get away with it and don't ever learn that they aren't doing their job. When they do end up in a group with a level appropriate healer than the healer sucks.
The exact opposite is true with healers as a tank. A lot of healers get spoiled running lower level dungeons with synced tanks that barely ever need a heal tossed at them. When they do run I to a tank that isn't synced or very well geared they have trouble because they have no practice.

I am currently leveling my last role until I pick one to focus on. I'm sitting at 34 Whm. Having already leveled a ranged, melee and tank I expected to go mostly unnoticed but, I've found the exact opposite to be true.

If I play perfectly and cover every ones mistakes I get triple coms the majority of the time. If I make one mistake of ANY degree I get some of the nastiest comments I've ever seen in this game.

I had no idea people expected perfection to such a degree from a newer healer. When I made mistakes in any other role people mostly shrugged it off without comment. Most of the time when I have an issue it's a chain reaction from bad play by other party members but, many of them decide I am the problem should it become too much.

It's been quite alarming and what started off as reasonably enjoyable is slowly wearing down to forcing myself to not just let them all die.

    Yeah! Join the dark side!

I've been enjoying doing roulette as SCH/WHM when healers have the bonus. It's a nice change from DPS.

Maybe I'm just lucky or my datacenter (I'm in Europe, so Chaos I think?) But even when I know I'm playing badly cos I'm tired or drunk I never get any flak.

Only issue o can think of is when I did halatali hm for first time, I said in party "this is my first time " but tank pulled everything and I wasn't prepared and we wiped. After he apologised saying he didn't see my message in party chat and after we went through slowly and everyone helped explain mechanics etc. It was really great.

So maybe your datacenters just suck?

tanks expect healers to be able to heal anything and whatever at anytime no matter if they pull zillions of mobs in a single shot, and are undergeared. Healers expect to dps with minimal work on healing, meaning they expect the other party members to be overgeared and get minimal damages, and if it doesnt go their way they leave. Happened to me in Dezmael, after waiting 1h+ with my bard to enter at the first two mobs the healer saw he would have to actually work as tank wasnt up to paar with gears he left and we had to leave because nobody joined, lost an hour, got frustrated and stopped playing.
I also met a healer that was spaming medica constantly all the time I told her to be careful with spaming medica all the time the answer was, I will use all my mana otherwise why is it there for ? and besides there is a challenge to know you can die anytime...when soemone gives you such an answer you just know that it will be a long long donjon...very long.

Tanks are convinced that if you use all your mana to keep them aline note the THEM is because you dont know how to manage your mana then maybe realize that maybe they have a problem, if a healer makes a poor choice though he is the bane of all and a pleague and useless and the likes. If a DPS says to a tank to stop tanking a mob where the DRG has to stand in the mid of a pool of poison to be able to have any efficiency and the tank says ..deal with it....then you know that the time spend in reaching the last mob of Aurum will be a loss of time...

There are things for all and everybody, accusing this or that is WRONG, we all are guilty of something that we do or did or will do wrong, just accept stop being just jerks about it and move on. The only time where I would report all and wish for a ban is when you have to deal with an entire group in CT that decides to troll and on purpose have everybody die by them doing things they shouldnt do like stand on purpose in the mid of AOE of KB or not kill bombs with Vassago or step out of platform and leave only one standing on it on Atomos..and steal on purpose aggro from a tank that is trying to remove skeletons ...THAT is the real annoyance and there is nothign you can do..you just either leave all or put up with that stupidity...

If people were more respectful of the others, which isnt the case, people in this game forgot what is to be educated...is easy to hide behind a screen right, there would be far less problem way less.

I will save everyone's epeen, saying at start that I'm learning to heal and ask the tank if PLEASE can forgive me and speedrun a little less than the full map. So undergeared tank will save his face, the bad-rotation dps won't be spotted too much, and meh is the healer who is l2heal so if something goes wrong, everyone knows who blame. And we all happily go to the end of duty maybe faster that failing speedruns.
