Don't think Japan likes PvP content so I really doubt we'll get any. Not that I care.

While I more than once said I don't want PvP..this whole colliseum thing with different categories, colliseum marks, bets, etc....sounds really fun.
It should for sure not be the dev team's top priority...but one day, it would be nice if we got something like this![]()
Coliseum i think is a "classic" FF location.
I like this idea for the most. Could be really neat thing to have, i would think would give the world a bit more Final Fantasy feel.

Who ISN'T for instanced, arena-style PvP and PvM? It's a great way to go at it with your friends, foster a sense of community and teamwork, and maybe earn some cool prizes at the same time. The Colosseum is great for a number of reasons, such as it has FF-precedent, can be an introduction for the first types of PvP/PvM(a test bed), and you can get crowds to watch the games.
Naturally balance is going to be an issue, but maybe this could be circumvented by introducing a much smaller rank pool, such as rank 15 - 20, 21 - 25, 30 - 35, etc., hell I dunno. Maybe even allow for class/job "palette swaps" or "loadouts" that you would equip upon signing up for a match so that stats don't matter at all as much as skill, however still offering the chance for rewards to be used outside of the arena.
In terms of rewards, I think guildmarks or medals, maybe decorative weapons, actual gear, etc. would be nice. I think the key to the rewards is that there should be a certain amount of overlap in ways to obtain them. I.E. "you can either get this type of armor by going on x raid, or by fighting it out in a special colosseum match". There should also be SOME rewards that are exclusive to PVP, however they probably shouldn't be TOO amazing so as to segregate people who don't particularly enjoy PvP(heathens).![]()

For PvP to take off, they'll also need some form of a ranking system. That alone will be a lot of motivation for LSes.
They'll also need to nerf damage or increase player hitpoints to make fights last longer for duels. I don't think it'll be very interesting if people die in 2 hits or something.
Oh, don't underestimate how many people want PvP from Japan either. There are posts asking for this on their forums.
