    Fatal DirectX Error Windows 8.1

Hey all, I was playing this game fine for about a week and then out of the blue tonight it is crashing with the error in the title. I have done everything I can find via google and nothing seems to work.

    So far I have:

    Tried different drivers
Removed Windows Defender/Firewall and installed different security
Added TDrl in the registry (did this months ago to fix a different problem)
Verified the game cache twice (which re-downloaded the entire game)
    Checked for Windows Updates
Verified DirectX is up to date

This is very frustrating and am hoping someone can help me out here. I am not sure what else to try.

    Specs are:

    i7 960 @ 3.2
    Sapphire 6970
    8gb (4x2) Gskill Ripjaw
    Sabertooth x58 mobo
    700w CM PSU

Windows 8.1 is not supported. No offense to you, but Win 8 + 8.1 is just a bad OS in general.

BUT! You can try doing this:

Open the Desktop version of Internet Explorer > Settings > Internet Options
    - Go to Security, click on the green check, click on the Sites button, add https://www.ffxiv.com
    - Privacy tab, lower to "Accept All Cookies"

Not much, but it might help.

I will try what you suggested, thank you. I find it really hard to believe that Windows 8/8.1 is not supported as it was the only OS available when I had to get a new one. If that is true it is a shame as I am sure there are a lot of people who use it.

Odd that yours has caused a crash. I've been using 8.1 since Beta and its run perfectly fine the entire time.

Well now it is just crashing without that error. Just comes up that Windows is scanning for the cause blah blah blah and will notify when something is found. Well this is frustrating.

Hmm, that sounds like what I'm having. Try going to the search and typing "event" and hit the view event logs. It should have a log of your crash.

I use that quite often, handy little tool. I'll post the last couple.

The name "WORKGROUP :1d" could not be registered on the interface with IP address 192.168.2.15. The computer with the IP address 192.xxx.xx.x did not allow the name to be claimed by this computer. (This is due to a firewall program I think)

The driver \Driver\WudfRd failed to load for the device SWD\SensorsAndLocationEnum\LPSensorSWDevice.
