I am not sure if this is a bug. In the quest "The Creep from Work", after I "/poke" the enemy and got hold of the Luminous crystal, I attacked one of the wet rats and it turned into a wicked soul without me using the luminous crystal. I would also like to mention that using the luminous crystal on the enemy wet rat transforms it to a wicked soul as the quest originally instructs. It still puzzles me why simply attacking it turns it to a wicked soul without using the key item the luminous crystal.

The real enemies are among the disguised ones whether or not you use the dispelling item. The intended method is to use the dispeller so you don't fight more enemies unnecessarily (and they are slightly higher level than comparable leves). In practice this is pointless; just tag one. If it's not the disguised enemy, run and let it reset.

Not really a bug. Just poor design.

It's not a bug. You lucked out and attacked one of the wet rats that was actually a wicked soul. Really, you could attack all of the rats without using the crystals, and you'll get the wicked souls to change in the process, but you'd have to kill the rats, too.
