They probably could save money on it as most of their account retrievals could be handled by an automated service instead of having customer service reps review files.
Exactly, a stolen phone you can just call your phone company and they usually block it right away, on your new terminal you can still get the same sms, instead of going with a GM and start the long chore process of verification. If you lose your phone and you have an authenticator you can't log onto your account at all, unless there is an option to unlink your authenticator. I haven't looked into it but people claim there is.
Let's use your scenario though:
Someone steals my phone, they want to now steal my mogstation account linked to my phone.
-They would have to know my password to unlock the phone/a print of my thumb if I'm a newer device.
-They would have to know my email linked to my mog station account.
-They would have to do all this before I can get to my wireless provider and have them disactivate the SIM card and transfer it to a new device.
Much tighter security.
To be fair, ME3 multiplayer isn't really like an MMO, where you are nearly building an alternate life. Much more to lose in an MMO.
