At this point I don't think you really have any more ideas.Really? I have been two months playing and what you say is new for me... So maybe there's the failure... If they are really taking actions about players that buy gil... They should advertise all the players better, saying it for example when about to log, or in the message of logging, because it is clearly failing, people doesn't know they can get banned, so they buy, so RMT stills...
I can almost bet a large portion of the my account got hack people that go and make new characters are actually banned gil buyers. Hackers aren't gonna go through the trouble of getting an account to delete it.The did take action quite a while ago close to launch by removing a large quantity of gil from various accounts flagged for buying gil off of RMT. Then people got onto the forums, claimed they were innocent, community believed them and there was outrage. That's the kind of thing they have to deal with when they take action and I can guarantee it would be much worse if those players were banned and didn't just get a slap on the wrist.
Time is $.
If you delay bot creation by even say...10 min, you have just reduced their income. This would just delay the stream of bots initially to get the new system up in place and line up the bots to be made, but other than that, it would just run same as always...
Why can't we all vote this and agree on something. Different ideas are fine but it seems like every idea this thread has , there is someone saying it will hurt players. How is this hurting anyone besides the harassing spammers?I think a better method would be to add a "Report RMT" option in the rightclick menu. This option would add the character to your blacklist and create a GM Report, and if a player gets enough of these reports, they will automatically have their entire account banned from public chat channels and whisper until a GM investigates and either does a full account ban or restores the players privileges.
I think this idea by Dejavutwo is on the right track and needs to be implemented right away. It's not like if you send 2 or 3 tells or shouts you be the ban hammer. Come on you know the difference between someone selling goods from crafting, asking for help or just plain talking in shout and those that want to sell gil and spam it 50 times in a row. Big diff. Right?
Not really.. Well maybe 1 or 2 of those small/new companies. The big names in RMT don't spam you. And they are the big dealers.
Now ask yourself this. Can it be abused?I think this idea by Dejavutwo is on the right track and needs to be implemented right away. I really really think that a great idea would be the option to write OUR OWN chat filters, and any message that matches OUR OWN chat filters would get sent to another tab in the chat channel, that we could have the option to look at filtered messages there.
Bot find a new way of saying their website? Add it to the blacklist.
I would like this to have two 'tiers' of filters. One for just filtering based off of a word or pattern, and another one allowing regular expressions. Regular expressions are a super powerful pattern matching tool from the realm of computer science, and are a bit complex to learn. This idea here is that people who are not familiar with regular expressions will be able to get filters from the community. However players with no experience or desire to learn regular expressions could filter based on words.
SE could then look at the most filtered words/phrases from the community and then add that to their official blacklist for everyone.
Use pf to advertise for crafting
Perhaps they could make it so when you send someone a /tell on the Player Search (or whatever the RMT use to send /tells to everyone) it does a captcha there and only there to verify.
That was the basic idea even back in FFXI. Everyonewere able to see the effect in the economy once most gill-sellers were exposed and banned.
The same rules apply to corruption, don't buy into it. As a community, only we can improve our content and ignore RMT.
~'\[[_LEGACY_]]/'~TENTs because solo-friendly content forces me to want one!
