    Do you know how to log in to your router's website? Its usually a ip address, but for my netgear its routerlogin.net. From there most routers have a way to port forward/trigger. If you look up "port forward/trigger" you'll get a better guide then we can give you, and you just use the ports which "Richard" gave you.

    An average patch for me is about 30 mins with the downloader.

    just go into your browser of choice, enter your IP address and it should bring you to your routers configuration page. Normally you have to login so just use admin/password and then find the port forwarding section and add the ports I listed.

    That's how I do it on netgear anyway - like Xavier said http://www.portforward.com will give you a more specific guide.

    For those with slow FFXIV updater, you can always bypass patch download by utorrent, or by other torrent client.

    = quick tip
    1) Let SEs patcher start downloading close it.
    2) It should create torrent file under its folders :
    My way for torrent is :
    \Dokuments\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV\downloads\ffxiv\48eca647\metainfo
    (it should be named by date of torrent file - patch)
    3) now run your torrent client and open that torrent file from the dir (metainfo).
    It will download with full speed now. No more waiting for laggy SE patcher.
    4) paste the downloaded file under FINAL FANTASY XIV\downloads\ffxiv\48eca647\patch - replace old one
    5) Run client

    I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.

    Same here. Outside of Comcast's service as a whole sucking ass sometimes, SE's patcher has always worked fine for me since launch. Not scared at all. Worst case scenario I have to torrent it, oh no!
