Hehe, it's an old meme on this forum dating back to version 1.0 - I believe it was Vilheim and a couple of other people first started calling him that due to the silly faces he kept making in the trailers long before ARR's launch.

For lack of anything else (official or otherwise) to call him the name kind of affectionately stuck - it's not being derogatory towards him, as lets face it, we'd all want him in our parties, even if he did do some silly things (like let his gear condition degrade so badly a single Garlean gunshot destroyed his AF helm, and left his Bravura behind on the battlefield when Lousioix teleported him to the future).

1.You have the outspoken 'we're loving it' mob who are probably ignoring issues.
2.In addition, there's the optimistic 'I'm having fun and waiting for more' group, who are willing to overlook some things and hope others are fixed soon.
3.Then there's the 'I really want this to work, but it isn't' group, who see some faint promise in the game, but don't have a lot of faith that the developers will fix the large problems anytime soon.
4.Lastly, there's the 'I dislike it, therefore no one can like it' group.

I still want Fern's input on this.... and lots of other areas! I wanna learn just how far Dalamud fragments really went! When Bahamut is fully released, all the coils on the sides, and upper parts of Dalamud, can still be seen racing along the horizon, after he flies away.... those bad boys had to have traveled like thousands of miles!

It's possible that not all of Coerthas is covered in snow. Certainly the Central and I would imagine the Western sides are currently undergoing a permanent winter type effect, but Coethras was massive in 1.0, having a Central, Western, Eastern, Northern and Southern area. It's possible that while some of the landmass is effected by the presence of (possibly, no confirmation this is true) Shiva who may be inhabiting the Western side of Coerthas, the other areas to the South, East and Northern edges may still be green.

My personal guess is that the Southern is going to be more desolate, being in closer proximity to Mor Dhona and Thanalan after the awakening of Bahamut, that area likely got tore apart. The Eastern side may still be green, as close as it is to the Shroud and there's no winter effects there. Though that part of the Shroud, next to Fallgourd Float was torn apart by the Calamity as well, so it may not be quite so green anymore. The only section that was far enough away from the awakening of Bahamut that we currently don't have access to is the Northern (North-East in 1.0) end of Coerthas.

Yeah, and again, when you come over the hill near Ishgard on a dark night, you can see the wall of snowcloak glow with this REALLY brilliant blue.... my guess is Shiva is behind there, and it will be melting soon. I'm of the same mindset though, I think only a bit of Coerthas is snow covered, due to the aether, and Shiva.

Generally when you think of the snow in Coerthas your mind would put Shiva (The Ice Queen) as the reason for it as it makes the most sense. However, that's not the case.

The story has made it quite clear that Garuda's winds are the cause of the snows in Coerthas (but how that makes sense, I don't really know), as the Ixal are the ones that have summoned her and their home is in Central Coerthas.

Not entirely sure how she moved from Gridania's Black Shroud in 1.x to Coerthas, but... whatever. I can already see an area over by the Ixal that is currently locked (a gate to be more precise) that would add more area to the Ixal area... or more likely is the spot for a future site for Ixal beastman quests.

I am definitely looking forward to exploring the rest of Coerthas, and I do believe we will be doing that in the expansion or perhaps an update before the expansion. Would finally like to see what is beyond the Steps of Faith/Gates of Judgement when we are allowed passage beyond them.

Eh? What did you mean to put there? Ishgard isn't accessible yet, so there is no hill near Ishgard. I do know where Snowcloak is, just not what place you are talking about to see it.

Garuda and the Ixal were always based in Coerthas.

As for Garuda's winds bringing snow, Coerthas is a high altitude area and heavy winds lowering the temperature even further probably lowers the temperature enough for snow.

Well the Ixal I get, not really contesting that.

It's just I recall seeing a cutscene from 1.0 where Garuda was attacking Twin Adders within The Black Shroud itself. Whereas in ARR I don't think she's so much as set feathered foot/hoove there.

I meant the small hill when you pass the FATE, "Roc of Ages" if you stand near the Gates of Judgement, and look to Snowcloak, you can see the icewall glowing VERY brightly. Sorry I wasn't more clear.
