Chocobo Breeding?

Hello all,

I'm very new to FFXIV and have only started playing a week ago. I'm just wondering if chocobo breeding is actually in the game or not?

I can't seem to find a straight to the point yes or no. I'm seeing guides but they are from around August 2013. The guides explain how to get your chocobo mount and how to get battle chocobo. However, when it talks about chocobo breeding just says something along the lines "Waiting to find out whether SE will implement chocobo breeding/stables."

I did see another guide but it looked like it might have been from early beta testing, and in the guide it said you needed to be a lvl 35 Botanist. I just don't want to go through the hassle of leveling only to find out what I was working for isn't even in game.

If someone could clear this up, would be greatly appreciated!

Breeding right now is not available, its to be introduced at a future patch I think Right now you can use a chocobo for battling in the open world, with a tank/attacker/healer role, dress it up and have it gain ranks.

I heard rumor it was attached to housing. I really hope not. If you follow the housing threads the way SE acts like they just don't have enough cpu on their end for housing pixels. The cost for housing is outrageous! Only FC's (game's word for guild) can afford it. Also if no one logs and visits a house, in a future patch, housing can be taken away; even after you spent that huge gop of gil on it! Breeding should be for everyone; including new to the game level 1 players. I reiterate, I hope chocobo breeding is not attached to housing.

So far, only FCs are entitled to purchase housing anyway. Individual player housing is planned to be brought out in a later patch. We've been told it will be less expensive than FC housing, but that still leaves room for it to be outrageously expensive (which is sort of what I expect we're likely to see).

Anyway, I don't know whether the Chocobo breeding will be attached to FC housing or personal housing, but I too have heard that it will be housing-related.
