Anyway concerning the main subject it could be really interesting to add damaged visual effects, or the fact to be able to see more skin once the gear is damaged.

Anyway. I don't think it'll happen in this game. they tinkered with it in The Third Birthday and it wasn't exactly highly received.
The 3rd Birthday was made for PSP! :| Gosh i rather have it on PS3 so the pixels are better presented and more better modelled after! That is why IT FAILS! (Ofcourse there were other reasons as well but..)
actually, Assassin's Creed has this feature as well, where Ezio's armor and bracers would show visible damage over time. If they put this into FFXIV, it would be a useful visual indicator of how worn out a players weapons and armor are.
