Sending Mail, have to scroll through dropdown of friends to pick sender

I have never been able to select a recipient for mail other than having to scroll through the unsorted friend list dropdown. Other players tell me they can start typing and matching players are displayed. This would be really handy if it worked for everyone.

Steps to Recreate:

1. Click on Mail Moogle
2. Click New
3. Recipient box is dark grey, and won't accept focus

Clicking in the address box shows the dropdown

Any keys pressed while the dropdown is displayed are acted on by the system (e.g. W moves player forward, D rotates right, etc.)

Pressing Enter while the list is displayed focuses the chat box

The only way to scroll the dropdown is whith the mousewheel or dragging the scrollbar and clicking the player

Wheel scrolling through 147 friends in the order they were added is very tedious

I hardly ever Mogle mail anyone and even if I do my friend list is pretty short so that's not and issue plus I can't even remember now how exactly it looks in the mail GUI but maybe the pressing the letters / keys to select specific names works only if you have no direct KB controll / have the direct chat option on? Just an idea ...

Pressing the / key also moves focus to the chat window. The problem appears to be that for some players, the recipient dropdown won't accept keyboard focus.
