Why do new players receive death threats for enjoying the story?

castrum+prae can be run with 5-6 people easy, turn chat off and chill, be ignorant, dont care about others, focus on yourself.. just don't whine like a 5 year old about it

yeah i'm not good at sympathy, so your cutscene is out of context with the story, let your brain put it all back together, or re-run the dungeon

you may always get your own way with your family and friends but you wont get babysat by strangers on the internet if you waste their time

I must be lucky then, because I have watched every cut scene in every dungeon when doing it for the first time so far, and never received even one comment about it from anyone. Most of the time the others are just discussing strategy or chatting or messing around, nobody gets their panties in a bunch over it. I don't think any of them have lasted for anywhere near 15 minutes though, only a few minutes at most...maybe if you read incredibly slowly that might be the case. Anyone using duty finder who has a problem with people watching them either needs to deal with it or use party finder or set up your own party with your free company, linkshell or friends. No reason to be an ass to people who watch them, there are plenty of options if your time is really that limited.

I recommend two things to you.

First, report such insults and threads, such things should not go without consequences.

Second - it´s hard to prevent speedrunners, when you join DutyFinder ... sure, it´s a big deal, giving bonus to higher geared, such getting them back to help newcomers, but as usual, you get mostly a******


I Also don´t like the argument "you can watch in Inn later"... I don´t want to ruin the story to someone, and as i mostly tank in there, i am mostly able to slow the grp down ^^
But I really recommend, if you want a slow run with cutscenes, party up like it´s usual in an MMO - by now, you should know some ppl which are the same progress level as you - or set up in partyfinder, where you can state that you want the cutscenes.. also announce it via /shout and inform ppl about that, chances are, if i hear your request, i will surely join you.

SE invented this option especially for this case, it might take you longer to find ppl, but will increase your fun with this seriously great game.

In my opinion PF should be used for speed runs and DF should be used for learning a dungeon's/fight's mechanics and for enjoying the story on your first playthrough. It makes more sense that way to me in order to ensure every single person is on the same page with speed running especially when the storyline quests encourage you to use DF not PF.

Expecting 7 other people who are there for their daily roulette run to babysit you and wait for you to watch all the cutscenes is not right. Some of those cutscenes are 5 mins long and there a a lot of cutscenes in the story raid dungeons.

They could always fix it by removing the bonus for doing the run again then you would be waiting a very long time, without the daily roulette speed runners there would not be very many people doing them. They would do them 1 time and never go back.

But the Flaw in this idea is... there is no Roulette for PF...

They made bonus for Duty Finder, it should have been obvious that the high levels go in there for the bonus, and not for helping them...

if all people who play had infinite time for both, there would be no place for speedrunning anyway ^^

I don't see why players like you can't be considerate of people who are trying to enjoy the story. This is a FINAL FANTASY game. The story is the main reason to play.

I can say I have skipped every cut scene, story line or dungeon... Wanna know why? I don't care enough to read and see these characters make giggle noises. I get the jist of what's going on without having to sit through it, and there's No way I would ever think it's ok for me to slow anyone down. I feel bad when I screw up in dungeons, or if I'm new to one I announce it. Think of the other players, good lord. It's not about you!! I'm done with this thread, you guys are absurd.

Then this is not the game for you. Stop ruining the experience for everyone else. Stop being a hypocrite and expecting courtesy when you show none whatsoever. Clearly being a disabled veteran has made you selfish and bitter, and I expect better from the military. One would think common courtesy would have been taught, or did you skip that class?

I'd just go ahead and watch the cutscenes anyway. Don't worry about the extra couple of minutes people might have to wait as it's really insubstantial in the 4-man dungeons anyway. It's somewhat unfortunate that SE decided to do a fair amount of exposition particularly when approaching boss rooms where people are most likely to lock you out if they feel like rushing, but at least I can tell you that with the story so far that ends with Praetorium. None of the 2.1 or 2.2 content is designed with cutscenes (aside from quick boss introductions) that could cause some players to wait longer while others read. All the story content is solo content.

I'm not sure what more SE could do to rectify this. Making cutscenes unskippable would infuriate people, and besides they'd skip through the text as quickly as possible resulting in nearly the same problem. If they put a 'skip cut scenes' check box in DF then there would be almost no traffic at all for players who want to watch cutscenes.

I just want to throw it out there, if it wasn't for "speed runners" doing these story dungeons, you'd be waiting days for your DF to pop up for 8 like minded people to join.
