How can this game not have built in voice chat?

It did, but it also did not have cross platform support. PS3/4 had their server, PC had their own.

This is a PC/Console cross over... the ONLY way to effectively get any kind of decent level of communication is through an integrated voice chat.

You will all defend them forever won't you.... there is more to communication than marking a target, its an MMO. That still doesn't change the fact that they can't ask questions, or acknowledge information properly.... why do we want to play with what mayaswell be bots? its suppose to be social.

And to the other person "no room in the ps3 client" ... I'm confused... but then this is another prime example of why PS3 support SHOULD eventually be dropped.... such a bottleneck.

There are many situations in complex fights where text at the start and marking does not cut it. this is why most people on PC with common sense are REQUIRED to use Vent/Team Speak/Skype while doing content with other team members..

Dude, if you want voice chat then go use a third party program. Not everyone in the game wants to talk, there are tons of people who are uncomfortable talking, or CAN'T TALK, have you ever thought about those people? What about people that can't hear either? How about players that can't speak a certain language well, but can type it just fine.

From what I've heard multiple times, Japanese groups never use voice chat, and they get on just fine... You don't NEED voice chat in an MMO, if you feel like it's necessary, then use a third party solution.

As for your ridiculous female gamer comment, this really applies to everyone, but because you mentioned females, you do realize there are going to be a bunch of guys being perverted etc because that's how immature guys are. As for bandwidth, you clearly have no idea what you're talking about. If Square Enix provided voice chat, this would mean that you'd either be connected with P2P which would expose your IP to other players, or relayed through a server which is MASSIVE bandwidth costs on Square Enix for something that not everyone will even want to use, and the entire idea of the infrastructure for this gives me a headache...

We don't need voice chat in this game, if you want it, go ahead and use it. Personally, I use TeamSpeak with my static, but I don't want it integrated into the game.

... you miss the point completely, did you even read what I wrote? the PC side is fine.... but PC gamers have to interact with console gamers that have neither keyboard to type and cannot voice chat at all even with 3rd parties.

They are mutes... you take any amatuer business course or any team building course and one of the first things you learn is that communication is in most cases the most important part of getting something done. so again, stop using your limited personal circumstances.... and prey tell how I can use team speak to talk to PS3/PS4 gamers?

I play on PS4 and used to play on PS3, I use a keyboard, and I use TeamSpeak with my static, so there's no "gap" here. If a PS3/4 player doesn't want to get a keyboard, then that's their problem, don't invite them into any groups that you think they need to type in. And if you want to know how you talk to PS3 and PS4 players with TeamSpeak, it's called having a computer... you know, the thing you're using right now? Just because we play on PS4 doesn't mean we don't own computers, you know? And you say, "well not everyone has a computer in the same room", well yeah... not everyone does. But not everyone does content that "requires" them to use TeamSpeak, now do they?
We shouldn't encourage women to do anything because women can do whatever the hell they want, if you payed attention to what I said, not everyone WANTS to talk... PERIOD. What part about that don't you understand? I gave a single reason as to why some women might not want to talk, are you going to deny them that right? "No you have to talk! Dude, it's not denying a feature when you can just get a damn computer and use TeamSpeak! From what I saw, you haven't even cleared any of the Extreme Mode primals or coil, so why the hell do you even care about any of this? It sounds like to me you're just coming up with shit to argue with people at this point. If you want people to use TeamSpeak, then tell them to use fucking TeamSpeak, it's not that hard, parties all the time say they require mumble or teamspeak or whatever, go and join those if that's what you want, you don't need to add it in the game.

Having built-in chat is not equivalent to needing to turn it on for everything.
I don't have an inclination to listen to or speak to any stranger I meet in real life or in game.

However, a good built-in chat will be nicer than the jumble of VC software I am made to install as time goes on. Annoyed I have to install Mumble, TS, Vent + god knows what, just to account for everyone.

every MMO I've played that had built in voice chat, the voice chat is either empty or has like maybe one person who's just yammering to themselves. Most people would stick to the voice chat their guild has been using for donkey's years or just not use it all. Doesn't help that most of the built ins I've seen have been absolute garbage.
